Customizing 10193 Medieval Market Village

Post by KingDavid »

Okay, so I'm pretty new to MOCs. One of the first things I'm trying is getting another 10193 Medieval Market Village and building the second set of buildings in different colors than the first two. There are two buildings in the set, one is a blacksmith shop/stables, the other is a pub/inn sort of building. The first building uses tan parts, the second uses medium blue ones. I'm simply going to buy extra parts in two other colors and build these according to the instructions and make any further customizations as I go along. For anyone who would like to try this sort of thing, here are the tan parts from the first building:

Here's the medium blue parts for the other building:

Anyway, I don't know if that will be helpful to anyone else, but I already did the dirty work, so I figured I would post it up here in case someone else has that same sort of idea.

EDIT: I just checked on S@H and (as an example) replacing the tan parts with brick-yellow parts totals $9.65 USD. So it's not super-expensive to do this sort of thing.

I'm not sure if you'd be able to get these pieces cheaper at Bricklink (or indeed all at once from one place), but I am hoping to do a little modifying of it myself, so thanks for the heads up.

Once the postie finally gets round to doing his job properly.

Great minds think alike. I was thinking of sand green instead of the medium blue, although I'd try to simplify the (re-)build by using larger pieces (1x3s instead of a 1x1 and 1x2 in places etc.)

Basically as long as you can get the 1x4x1 arches in the desired colour then it shouldn't be too problematic
My Other sig is funny. Honest.

Great call, KingDavid! I know I was planning to duplicate the buildings in different colors, so this is a terrific help.

Yeah, I was thinking of sand green and dark red for mine. It's like you say, if I can get the arches, the rest should be a piece of cake.

I think these buildings make a great start to a medieval town so I look forward to seeing everyone's additions. I have a building made up that will make a small addition to the town. I have not posted my new buildings as they are really nothing special, run of the mill medieval type cottages. Look forward to the more creative ones that others will think up!

Richard,

I know what you mean..... never waited so long for anything from TLC including the PAB orders. What happened to our mail carriers? Hope they are alright.
