Modular castle WIP

This is really coming along great, Teddy! Nice and big I like how you have it all full of little details to keep it exciting and not just one big boring castle with 4 walls and some towers. Great job! I can't wait to see the finished piece, will it be on display at Legoworld '09 by any chance?

as this is my first castle MOC I wanted to make a typical Dutch water castle. (Since the land in the Netherlands is flat they usually build them as squares in a moat). I understand the risk of it turning out to look boring. Therefore, I've tried to prevent the big grey wall syndrome and am trying to design some interior for the keep as well. Currently I've run out of some smaller grey pieces, so construction of the interior has halted a bit. I'm not sure about displaying the castle at the legoworld 2009, since my main project (for legoworld 2009) is the minifig scale HMS Victory and I'm not sure how to move them both all the way to Zwolle. Furthermore, this would be my first display at the legoworld so I still have to figure out other logistics as well.

hey teddy! I really dig that castle you are building. It really is coming along well. Although i havent replied on all your updates i have seen most of your updates and wip pictures. This castle is build really well, and i adore your patience on building it (i could never get myself to building on 1 project longer then 2 weeks haha, so i always have to build my mocs out of the lego i have on that moment since i dont have the patience to wait for bricklink orders)!
It is really cool this castle is large but still has all sorts of small details in it. Also the landscaping looks very nice! I like the look of that bright green a lot and might do the same in the future as well.
I hope to meet you and see your work in Zwolle 2009, would be cool!

The ships looks impressive aswell btw, looking forward to the end result.

Very impressive. I love the scale and how real the castle looks. This takes the art form of Lego in a different direction to my own preferred style and closer to a pure model, but is very enjoyable none the less. Excellent work and thanks for sharing!

I really appriciate your compliments, especially since they come from such great builders!
Recently, while building the Keep, I did a small study into the Tudor style.
As a result of that study, I've been updating the courtyard buildings to better comform to the Tudor style.

Woot! Tudor houses! I love them. A good mixture of window designs and the interior is great, though I'd hate to be on that second floor and bump my head on the low ceiling.

Thanks for your comment. The roof is actually hollow on the inside. So there is more than enough headroom.
As you can see from the fireplace there is already two bricks aditional headroom there.

I saw this on MOC pages about 3 or 4 days ago. I loved it! I want to make a big castle, and this is great for ideas. I love the whole design of the castle. How they put the keep and other buildings in the back wall in stead of in the center is great.
