Lego heads

Post by Lcuan82 »

Hey,

Has anybody noticed that ever since KK1 and Vikings, Lego started to include pupils, instead of making the eyes all black like before.

Old style: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=3626bp01
New style: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic ... 3626bpb121

Which style do you guys like better? Or is this a non-issue.

LEGO appears to still be making both types.

As for your question, I like both types... since they can be used in/for various MOCs.

I use the pupil heads for most close-ups, and pupil-less for my nameless soldiers who seem to blend in a bit more.

The real issue are the fleshies! On topic: Yeah, I agree with Adam and Sir Nelson they can both come in handy.

I personally liked the consistency of having all solid eyes, and my favorite time was the old Pirate theme where they were just classic smileys with additional details added.

However, recent faces have been good so I'm not complaining. They seem to have cut back on the more ridiculous designs.

I like the old style

I like to old style of the standard smiley face. I've got lots of older minifigs that their faces have become rather worn and I'll switch in new smilies. I find that the added pupil makes them look too happy.

I slightly prefer the eyes with pupils/shine. I think it makes the faces look just that little bit more expressive. I try to save the all-black eyes for characters who need to look shadowed or dark-eyed for some reason. They work pretty well under hoods and wide-brimmed hats.

Why discriminate? ;) I use both.

I really much prefer the pupil-less ones, but I'll not discriminate. They all have their uses.

My favorite head is the classic smiley.

I like the greater detail of the pupiled eyes.

Hm...never thought much of that...
I think they're fine. I particularly don't like fleshies, but some are okay, so this doesn't bug me too much.
