Buying Lego saved my credit

Post by nanuck95 »

So, in celebration of getting a new job, I ended the current budget crunch by going down to the local TRU and picking up the King's Battle Chariot. About 10 minutes after I got home, I get a phone call from the credit card company saying that there was some suspiscious activity on my credit card recently and they wanted to check with me to see if I knew what was going on. Apparently, at the same time they were ringing me up at TRU, someone was trying to make online purchases at FYE (a music store, I've never bought anything there that I can think of) using my credit card. Although the online FYE purchase was still approved and I will still have to contend with that, they were able to shut off my card before any further purchases could be made.

Pretty awesome if you ask me, totally makes spending the extra $1.00 at TRU for the chariot worth it now for all the potential credit card fraud hassle it will have saved me. :D

I've had a few calls from Visa regarding Lego purchases. I had made some large purchases at Shop@Home and Visa called me to confirm that I it was really me.

Heh, I've had the same thing happen. You know you have a Lego problem when the bank calls to check whether your credit card has been stolen. :D

I had my bank lock my card at one of the Lego stores. I was at the Mall of America Store, but I live near Seattle. I hadn't told them I was traveling and they thought it was suspicious. There I was...making a large Lego purchase and my card didn't work....

The exact same thing happened to me at BrickWorld 2007. Can't a guy spend a few hundred dollars on Lego in a city he doesn't live in? What is the world coming to? ;) Now I have to talk to my bank in advance.

Josh and architect:
That's hilarious! At least you know your credit card company is looking out for you!
