The keep is 14th-15th century. The hand gun makes it a little later than most "Classic" Castlers, but these buildings were meant to last for a long time!

I have a question about the scale, the walls made me think of it. Are you using a 1 stud= 1 foot ratio or is it based around actual minifig scale? Or just so it looks right?

Dan, this is a fantastic WIP. It's nice to see somebody build an L (or Z) style tower. The windows really stand out with the stonework around the arches. I'm also a fan of the tile work on the roof. Your MOCs always have a very clean appearance to them (an excellent trait IMO).

A few quick questions. Given the overhang of the battlements, would I be correct in assuming that the castle does not open 180 degrees like your earlier sets which were hinged along the chimney(s)? I'm also wondering if there are there any plans to add a splash of colour to the exterior (flags, banners, coloured 1x1 cylinders on the chimneys etc.)? The only real critique I could offer is that the exterior is a bit too monochromatic. While this may be very authentic to the castles of the time, it makes the set appear a tad dull.

There really isn't much else to say. You've been building fantastic MOCs for years now. Great work as usual.

I'm curious; just what is minifig scale? Given that minifigs have such distinct proportions how do you determine what exactly mifig scale is?

Well, compared to humans, minifigs are a lot wider. For "minifig scale" a door generally has to be four studs wide, but for other scales such as 1 stud= 1 foot, a two- or three-stud wide door would be more accurate. I used to see this discussion a lot on star wars lego forums, since people are always trying to make accurate mocs using the given specifications.

I really love this build. The tiling on the wall really ads to the feel of the building.
The roof is great as well.
Have you considered using 1x1 round bricks to run along the top slit in the roof?
To round off the top of the roof.
Have you contemplated using different shades of grey for the walls?
If so, why did you choose to stick with this color scheme?
Are you contemplating some landscaping around your MOC?
Or is it ment for a bigger display?
Hmm I see I posted quite some questions.

Great work as usual... Thanks for posting all of the in-progress pictures - especially a screenshot of one of the instruction steps. I have numerous 2x4 OLG bricks and it's nice to be reminded that castle walls don't have to be built out of 1xn bricks.

Very cool. The cobbling of the corners really gives it an ancient, master crafted feel. The interior details are great too.
