CCC VII Misc - Jester's Folly

Post by nanuck95 »

I posted this on brickshelf just a couple hours ago and they already approved it, so I get to be the first to post for CCC VII. The idea for this has been rolling around in my head since the drawbridge defense set came out last year. It finally clicked last week how I wanted to do it, so I figured I'd save the idea for CCC. I stuck with a vignette and since it didn't really fit into any of the other categories, I'm entering it into the misc category.

The newbie jester wanted to impress the king with his juggling skills, but unfortunately, he should have practiced a little harder before he tried to show off.

Enjoy!

The idea is clever, and it really made me smile. What you've built immediately conveys the story to your viewer, and thus there's no need for anything to be explained. Plus, you've managed to pack in some fine-grained and subtle details, like the tiling on the floor, which compliment the main action. In short, it's an excellently executed vignette.

I agree, there is a lot going on here and yet it is simple enough that no explanation is needed. Though I do wonder how much longer those jester's are going to be alive based on the kings expression!
Oh and grats on first post, mines still private =(

Well, looks like someone beat me in entering first. Congrats on that, though.
Nice architecture in the backdrop, and the use of heads is good. The tile also has a nice pattern.

God bless, and good luck in the contest!

I feel like this has some nice detailing that is a little hard to see because of the minifig placement.
I do like this little MOC a lot. Perhaps more detailing just above the shield, because it is, after all, a kings house.

Perfectly played out little vig. It made me smile right off the bat. Then I wondered why I was smiling when obviously the king is unhappy and the poor new jester is sad. But I think it's the way one easily identifies with the different figs that made me smile, I could relate. That and the other jester laughing at him is just posed so perfectly one can't help but join him in the joke. Like others have said, I too love the tile pattern.
