6080 "kings Castle" revisited

Post by Griffon »

I have always loved the 6080 "Kings castle" set but it could always use some improvements so i've build me another version with this being the result of that idea:

I hope you like it.

Awesome! Instantly recognizable, and the extra details really fill it out. I like how you made it be able to open like the original as well. Great job!

Excellent revisit!
You've managed to stay very true to the set, but make awesome improvements and all in your own style. Good job!

Wow, this is great! I like what you did with the 1 x 1 round pieces and the rear of the castle. It is definitely still recognizable as the original set, but it looks tons better now.

A very nice remodel of a classic! I think the arrowloops you added at the front are great and the little details you added all over, like decorative arches, are perfect for such a castle. The attached dwelling on the back wall is also nice, postern gates are useful as well.

My only comment is it looks a bit cramped now. Maybe simply extending the walls 4-5 studs wide would remove this I assume.

Nice work Griffon!

Many thanks for the nice comments, i am glad you like it.
I have to admit that i have rushed it into completion for i got a litlle bit tired off it because i have been working a long time on the front and the back and while i was building this, other ideas came to mind which i want to realise sooner or later. I intended to build an interior and some more details and personaly i don't like the sides very much.
In short there is room for improvement only i do not know yet if i wil do it.

@Heir: I know it looks a bit cramped but i wanted to stay in the same dimensions as the original 6080 set, besides that i don't have more bricks in old light grey (almost all of it is in this model) too enlarge it.

Looks nearly perfect to me. The fact that you kept the dimensions the same is what makes it a real win. It reminds me of when AC redid the Kings Mountain Fortress. You made a classic castle improved but still classic looking. Awesome job.
