For those of you living in Calgary and the surrounding area there will be a Lego store opening up at the Chinook Center this summer!! A first in Canada!
I am just so happy that the one place in all of our big country that TLC chose to place it, Calgary coudn't have been better. A flippin one hour drive!!!!!

no... not west edmonton mall. they have way too many speciality stores there as it is. They dont need Lego. Personally i think lego hates me. They wait till after i move to Victoria before opening up a store in Calgary.. go figure. Have fun at the store peeps
Sweet! Have you signed up on the VicLUG forums yet? We are just starting to organize a van-load of people for BrickCon the first weekend of October in Seattle. Part of that is the late-night attendees-only LEGO store event.

This small city has a vicLUG? I'll sign up after this post. Do you guys take the clipper or go to the mainland to get to seattle? just curious. Also, what do people do in a LUG? never joined one before
edit: what is the full name of a LUG anyways? lol its an acyrome for something. Im guessing the "L" stands for lego... what does the "U" and "G" stand for?
LUG usually stands for LEGO User Group, so VicLUG would be a Victoria LEGO Users Group at a guess. Most LUG's follow what thier member's interests are so it varies. Some are into display's in a big way, others just get together and talk about LEGO more.
Oh and usually locating a Specialty store near other specialty stores INCREASES the success of said specialty store, so in this case it'd be a BOON to a LEGO store even if it's in a huge mall..... Ultimately if the store does not do well it goes bye bye so locating it in a low traffic area is counter productive...
So, the Grand Opening of the store has come and gone. Exactly how many people went (I doubt to many people went, who are joined on CC), and on what day? I'm really curious to know.
Also, I bought my largest single purchase of Lego on the Friday. an MMv, plus Kings Castle, coupled with the Octan tanker, brought my total up to about $335. I then spent about $50 on Sunday, as well as $25 that I redemmed on my VIP card.
