Re: Collectable Minifigures (Sold Out?)

Now we just need to photoshop a printable bar code page with id so I can carry the "shopping list" with me just like series one. :)
If I only had the time this afternoon, I'd get it on there myself! Tomorrow however is another day...

Are those European barcodes?
Are the barcodes going to be the same in the U.S. or are they different?

Each package has two bar codes. The broad almost square one reads "How much $" and the one in the photo is important to you and me because it is the coding that tells you exactly which figure is in the bag. That's not a Euro code, it's a secret language of AFOLs. :sly:

For those of you lucky enough to find these (including series 1) in stores, where are you finding them? What stores, and what section? Are they just with the rest of the LEGO?

I found them at my local Fred Meyer and they were on a shelf with all the other Lego.

From what I've read, they can be found here:

Lego Stores
Toys R Us
Borders Books
Fred Meyer
LegoLand theme parks

But the thing is, distribution isn't even, so you'll end with some stores that don't have any boxes, some may have only one or two and they'll sell out real quick.
Overall, I'd say Lego did a really poor job with distribution in North America. I've read a lot of angry reviews from parents for the Series 1 figs. Almost all the reviews talked about how difficult it was to actually find or get a full set of these figs. Hopefully Lego will correct this problem with series 2.

Shrugs, I can confirm that the distribution seems to have been uneven. I have yet to see a Series 1 Minifigure 'In the Wild' as it were and with the reported sell-out I doubt I will see one. One factor, there seems to be at least one Bricklink store in the same city as me, and they have over 90 Forestmen listed (as an example). I expected these to not be an 'easy' find but I did expect to be able to at least SEE some if not purchase. I do not know or cannot say that the unavailability is due to any one person (bricklink store) or any specific factor as a cause, the reverse is also true....

I do hope that the series 2 Minifigures have a better distribution.

I had only heard about Borders having them late in the release, I was never able to catch a shipment at TRU or the local LEGO Imagination Center.

What has happened I am afraid is that the scalpers have finally discovered LEGO through the Minifigure Collection.

Have the scalpers discovered LEGO via this, hmm I'm not sure if I'd put it that way, I would say they have found a product they can exploit. I'd say there have always been folks will to.. exploit really is the only word I can think of at the moment, the desire that exists for our favored building block product. There just never really was a line with both the randomness and supply limitations of the Collectible Minifigures. I cannot even say I blame those that are doing so, not at least the ones on bricklink, I cannot imagine that someone going to the trouble of setting up a bricklink store SPECIFICALLY to exploit this line. I feel anyone that's already on bricklink HAS an involvement with the Brick that we love. It's frustrating a bit, absolutely that I personally never have been able to acquire any part of this line from a retailer. That others are able to, well nothing I can do about it, what are we going to suddenly require licenses to buy these? Nah. A few of the folks reselling these are doing so merely to profit, I suspect at least as many if not more folks are using this to stretch their LEGO buying budget, or even to HAVE a buying budget in these times.

Bodyguards17, a member of brickset, has stated that he purchased a box of series 2 figs today at Toys R Us.
He's from Oklahoma.
See comments: http://brickset.com/news/article/?ID=808

I'll be calling my Toys R Us first thing tomorrow.

Has anyone seen a picture of the UPC code? I couldn't care less about the barcode that identifies the individual fig, I want to be able to look up the product to see if stores are going to carry them, when they're coming and how many they're getting.
Trevor

Trust me, I think I'm funnier than you do.
Why do I have to add the word "minifig" to my spell checker every time I use it?!

The only pictures I've seen have the UPC code cut off, showing only the unlabeled code that can identify the figure inside. :(

In one of (the?) Eurobricks thread about the release of these there IS a box brick regarding the distribution quantities of each figure in the box. The guy whom posted it there got the info from a Belgium forum.

Important bit of that to me is, 3 Spartans, 3 Pharaoh's, 4 Vampires and 4 Wizard of Oz style witches.

I called my closest Toys R Us this morning and they said they wouldn't get any of the new series for at least 2 or 3 weeks.
All the other stores I called said they weren't sure when they would get any in stock.
