Found a box at my local TRU. 5 per customer Limit and they are hidden behind the Customer Service counter so make sure to ask for them if you can't find them out on the shelves. I thought that this would be a chance for me to find elves since maybe they hadn't been picked through alot. I was able to find Forestmen and Indians by feeling the bow and thought I could find Elves easily. No Elves. I felt tennis rackets, lightsaber blades for the alien/spaceman, little samarui Tropheies, race car helmets but no bows. Maybe someone beat me too it, but like a poster said before, you start to feel rushed because you want to go back and fondle the ones you allready felt just in case and everyone is staring at you fondling lego pacakges.

I talked the guy into letting me buy 6 because they were bOGOF

Got

1X Fisherman Like the others said, fishing pole is DEAD give away..the little round 1x1 with the string and pole
3X Indians Spear is EASY to feel..just like the Spartan Spear
1X Gorilla...Bananna

and I took my six Randomly Baseball Player

PROS: Fisherman Beard is worth the $2 alone for Castle fans (Check out my pic) Trucker/baseball hat rules, Headdress, Bone Breastplate torso, loincloth legs, new spear, gorilla suite guy fig is awesome.

CONS: Baseball bat is Sooooo CHEAP looking and feeling. It feels like a cheap cracker jack quality toy. something you would get out of one of those prize machines at the grocery store, not LEGO. Really dissapointed. The Printing on the Fisherman doesn't really match the orange pants. Cheap chinese plastic again like the other series on all the legs, torsos, and now the new pieces feel cheap too. I'll have to compare the old headress with the new one..but right now alot of the pieces feel cheap.

I'll echo the comments that many of the pieces seem cheap. Oddly though, not all of them are. The Sumo Wrestler's hair, for instance, feels and looks like good old fashioned Lego to me. The same for the Fisherman's hat, fish, and fishing rod. His beard is fine, but it's intentionally the more rubbery plastic. Also, no complaints about the Elf's shield, the two space guns, the Hula Girl's hair, the Snowboarder's helmet and snowboard, the Driver's helmet, the Mummy's scorpion, the Samurai's katana (same rubbery plastic they've always been), or the Aviator's backpack (it's also the same rubbery plastic backpacks have always been).

Pretty much everything not mentioned there is of noticeably lower quality, though some are just barely noticeable, and others are atrocious. The Aviator's cap is particularly cheap looking, as is the Baseball Player's hat and bat. I have to agree with Thor; the baseball bat is appallingly awful. Most of the pants are of a definitely lower quality, thinner plastic, that shows light through quite easily, and doesn't hold that same high sheen that regular Lego does.

Just went back to TRU here in Arizona to get some more.So those of you in the US, your local TRU probably has them!

Found two Elves using the (Dot Pattern) and then felt to verify. Some of bumps/dots are really hard to see, but I found holding the package at an angle makes it easier to see them. Poorshem is right, the Elf Shield, cape and bow seem normal quality. I was probably a bit harsh in my first review and I'm not complaining because I'm glad lego made these and love the accessories, just dissapointed in some of the quality.

They are popping out in South-east Texas also in TRU.

I managed to get a complete set of all 16 by sheer luck on this series. The dots are nearly impossible to see on a few of the bags, especially if others have already sorted through them. Most people feel them up and down to try to figure what parts are in there as they don't know the "secret system", and honestly the feel-up method works almost better than the dots on these. I do have a lot of left-overs from the bunch I got mostly through misinterpretation of the dots. Sadly the Elf and the Fisherman are the only ones I got only one of. Both of their accessories are the most interesting of series 3 to me.

How much fun am I having with this "rare chase" Minifigure Collection?
I'm enjoying way more than I thought I would. Series three has dropped the "spare" small accessory of the first two waves, so mics and other things are now more special to each one. The quality is mostly hit on these with only one miss in my opinion on that Hula Girl's skirt (it leaves a gap that shows her green undies off and a little hip). The slightly wobbly hips are still there on a few. But the best of all of this is that every single character has a different head printing and expression. Nothing brings life to a LEGO creation quite like the faces. Classic smileys will always have their place and dominance, but these expressions are so darned much fun.

Favorites are the Baseball Player (The Clutchers, now I need a whole team, and I hope series 5 has a blue team), the Blacktron Pirate, the Elf (because he's just what we ordered), and the Fisherman (because his accessories just plain rock down to his beard).

Can't wait to bump into more of these little guys and gals. :)

I finally managed to get my hands on a few of these guys today. The TRU in my area had an entire box full. I was very surprised! Anyway, I didn't have the cheat sheet handy so I tried feeling of the packs, but I found it fairly difficult. I just couldn't discern what I was feeling. I could make out the fisherman's pole though.

I ended up with the hula girl, native american, two fishermen (Yay!), and the aviator. I'll head back after work with the sheet in hand to see if I can manage an elf. xD

I hit the jackpot today at my TRU in GA and snatched up a Hula Girl, a fisherman, and 5 Elves!!
And that was only from the 2 out of 5 I felt my way through!

I hadn't been much into the previous two Minifig series besides picking up a couple here and there. I wouldn't have minded getting the forestman, but by the time I found the barcode guide the series was gone (at least in my area). However, I accidentally discovered three boxes of series 3 at one of my local Walmarts (of all places), TRU never seems to have them in stock... I've asked, they go quick. Anyway, later that day I found out it contained an Elf (haven't checked this forum for awhile)... I HAD to get one! So I printed out the guide from http://www.fbtb.net and went back. They were still there. Unfortunately I didn't have much luck... my own ignorance really... I first went through an entire box looking at the dots from the front of the package until I realized my mistake. Then I was focusing more on the left-hand dots and found nothing that looked like the Elf pattern shown. I did manage to identify the mummy (the other one I wanted). I gave up and went home with my mummy. Later I realized I missed the fine print for the Elf that said the dots on the RIGHT side were very prominent. So I went back yesterday (and they were STILL there!), also with the guide posted on brickset.com's home page: http://www.1000steine.com/brickset/misc ... 03Dots.jpg

After going through perhaps a dozen I found one that looked like what the above guide showed, except none of the indents (the white dots in the guide) were visible, only the two bumps on the left (and the two on the right of course). No wonder I didn't find it the first time! Feeling for the parts I was able to discern the shield fairly quickly (the shape was pretty obvious). It took me awhile to feel out the bow, but I was pretty sure I found it too. So I bought that one bag. And it was indeed the Elf! I'm thrilled! But I'm also thinking I got really lucky to find one... I hope I don't get obsessed with future collectible minifigs... especially the really sought-after one... this is a bit too crazy to repeat very often.

I managed to find Series 3 at my local TRU after not seeing Series 2 and spending every Tue for 5 or 6 weeks calling about Series 1. They had about 6 boxes almost untouched. While I was looking through the boxes, I managed to feel the shield (which for me was the easiest piece out of all the pieces to discern) of 2 elves out of the first 3 figures I picked up. It was during the BOGO 1/2 sale, so I was in for 6 figures. I got 2 elves, 1 Hula dancer, 1 Baseball Player, 1 Tennis Player, and the DJ/Rapper guy. I had 5 picked out because I already had the 2 elves I wanted most and the store was busy, but with in 5 minutes, a manager came over and said he was taking the boxes to the checkout instead of leaving them with the Lego. He left one box behind and I managed to get my 6th figure. When we went to the checkout, I did not see the boxes anywhere. The figures are interesting, but the way they sell and/or promote them is absolutely stupid. $4 at regular price at TRU is also junk. This just reaffirms my stance I have said and will continue to repeat. "Don't tell me that kids are your target audience and continue sell products with adult wallets in mind". The F word is sprinkled in there about 3 or 4 times too, but I omitted them from the text. *smirk*

I managed the same thing at my local TRU. I kept looking for series 2, but never saw them. But I happened to be looking at some Lego for Christmas gifts, and saw that they had 2 boxes. I started trying to feel for each fig, but just decided to give up & walked out with one of the boxes. I managed to get all but 1 of the figs and duplicates/triplicates of the less desirable ones. The only ones I really wanted multiples of was the Chief since my mom was giving my nephews the Western theme Legos, and I got 3.

The Recurve Bow of the Elf is PERFECT for use in my Mongol Armies. Sure its gargantuan, but hey... it'll look cool! :D

The Turks used some large recurves for their foot troops during the medieval and into the 17th, at times 18th centuries that would be roughly the same size to a lego figure. That said I do not have 'historic' groups in my legoverse nor enough elf bows to try arming an entire faction with them.... here is to hoping TLC releases these in the future.
