Mill village raid house.

Ok so I don't post alot of my own stuff on here... basically alot of my creations are crap and doesn't survive long... but this is one I'm pretty happy with.

Well I bought the Mill Village Raid set 7189 like alot of people on here. and its an awesome set but after making it I started wondering.. mill, barn, animals but where does the farmer and his family live?
So I decided to create my own farm house that was a fair enough size that 3 people could live in. I also wanted to make it fit in with the style of the mill and barn. basically so that you could imagine it actually being part of the set.
I managed to pick up a cheaper second set of the mill set so converted it into a house. Thats the only way i had enough pieces to even attempt this one.

I copied some of the techniques used in the mill raid set like the roof style and colour scheme, window styles and added some rustic roof designs and decorations.
I like it. The interior isn't quite finished. I want to put in some furniture and add a ladder so the boy can sleep up in the loft. I just don't have the parts yet.

Nicely done on the house. Oddly, I think it's too big -- when compared to the other buildings. Cut it back by a third (one roof section) and I think it would look better. Haven't seen the interior pics yet, so I realize there's a reason for the size.

I like it, looks like you've got the style down well. Although, the mill village raid building always struck me as primarilly a barn, and it seems odd seeing a house in the same style. I do like the look, makes it seem like a country hut, off in the backwoods somewhere. It'd be cool to see it all in a landscape, depending on what you can build, but even on it's own it's very well presented. Anyway, excellent job! I like the variations on sets, it makes me remember the days when LEGO put alternate models on the back of every set. I look forward to seeing what you make next!

I like the style too, it looks very "thatched" like houses from that period would be.
I also agree that it's a bit too big. It shouldn't be as large as the barn as that should be the focal point of the farm scene.
The other thing I noticed was the green plate on the bottom. Perhaps have a grey or brown plate for the bottom. Granted, many houses of that time didn't really have a floor the "grass" seems a bit strange to me.

I had been toying with creating a thatched roof house for this set as well and I'll probably have to mimic your great house.

I think I'll put some flooring down inside the house so its not green. I'm thinking part flagstone and part floor boards.
And you were right about the size .. it is a bit long compared to the barn. I never really noticed how big it was.
It could almost be a viking long house

The obvious answer is you need another set so you can make the barn longer by adding two more sections

It does really fit in with the set. I think Lego needs to release a Lego Zoo with a companion set Lego Petting Zoo, made out of light grey bricks of course, so I can get more animals. I want a Polar bear and some black and white cows.

So it's only built from MVR-pieces? Nice alternate set-MOC in that case! (Nice MOC otherwise as well )

I don't think it's too big. Not if you would imagine the family living there. I don't see why you would take the size of the MVR-house as a standard, who said you must think of that one as a full size barn. Could just be a large shed as well
