I'm going to collect fleshies....gasp. Can't belive I finally said that!

Mencot, I know it's terrible. But the problem is I bought POC sets for the torsos for my pirates and couldn't use half of them because they had tan chest parts showing...maybe the LOTR torsos will be all browns and greens, but I think I'm finally just going to keep the fleshie heads and try to incorporate fleshies and yellow...

I dont like the fleshie either, but thats not the biggest reason I don`t buy licensed themes.
I think its going to be a bit easier to reuse Lotr minifig parts than poc. We´ll see

Technically, if there's a set with Smaug we'll get Benedict Cumberbatch, too.
It's too bad we never got a Sallah minifig, otherwise John Rhys-Davies would be joining Orlando Bloom, Cate Blanchett, and Christopher Lee in the additions to the "Actors-with-two-different-characters-made-into-minifigs" list (assuming we get Galadriel and Saruman eventually, which I think likely but not assured).

We're getting Magneto and Deadpool in the same set.
I've missed this completely, but are we getting a LOTR wave of sets this summer then The Hobbit sets? I love that we're getting for both, but my big fear is that, like all the other licenses (Toy Story/POTC) it's be just these two waves of sets and then nothing else. If there's one thing Lego love doing it's buying an expensive license then supporting it as a theme for only for a year, so I think it's a valid concern. Maybe the fact that there's a Hobbit sequel too will help ensure this doesn't happen though?

Correct. There will be a LOTR wave this summer followed by a Hobbit wave in December when the first movie is released. I would bet my bottom dollar that both LOTR and Hobbit will each get 2 waves minimum since the Hobbit is broken into two parts. In other words, this theme will last two years at a minimum, but I can see it lasting much longer.
No doubt there will be 4 waves and 2 years. I would imagine this line will go for a bit longer than that. I would guess it will continue until the second hobbit movie is released on DVD. That would come summer of 2014. Then the hype will finally start dying down. However, if this sells as well as everyone thinks it may go for a bit longer than that.
I am torn on the fleshies. I have no problem leaving the orcs and goblins in their fleshie colors. However, human figs may need to be LEGOfied before I can incorporate them in with the rest of my castle guys. Perhaps, I will just keep the LOTR figs seperate from the rest of my castle collection altogether?
* Parents will buy them for kids because of the Mystery/Castle/Fantasy lure
* LOTR fans will buy even if they aren't lego fans because they collect everything LOTR
* AFOL's like us will buy them like crazy because new helmets, armor, horses, weapons, elves and orcs are just too megblocks tempting!
