Qafanid Mausoleum

Post by Tanager »

Hi all,

I haven't posted anything here in a couple of years, but I posted my latest MOC to flickr over this past weekend:

Qafanid Mausoleum

I have long wanted to build something using texture and shadow, rather than color, for the wall decoration, inspired by the real monument known usually as the Mausoleum of the Samanids or the Samanid Mausoleum, which is itself located in Boukhara. So I went with SNOT and cheese for the walls...you can see the results for yourself, comments welcome as always. This will be incorporated into the city layout for Brickhara, the capital of Brickistan, although how precisely I'll work it in is a detail I haven't yet fully planned out. I'll have it at BrickMagic this year in Raleigh.

Thanks,

-Sandy

Lots of nice details, that is a LOT of tan cheese slopes. I like the little pools/fountains in the front. Keep up the good work :D

Brickistan was/is awesome! I remember seeing it at Brickfair 2009. Great work on this one Sandy, I especially like the texturing on the walls.
