First Moc (WIP)

Post by Canoehead »

Hi everyone,
This is my first MOC and its still got a ways to go, My brother and myself with the help of our nephew have been working on this for some time now. We still have our castles to build yet, his being the good guy castle and mine is gonna be the bad guys. We decided that we would split the table down the middle and we would each take a side so there are two different types of design in this. Mine is the one with the lighthouse with the exception of the crane, I did build the crane for my brothers side.

The Wagon I feel still needs some tweeking, I'm not sure if I like the fold down wall but aside from that the rest of the light house and the grave yard I am happy with.
Here is a link to the photo album http://s59.photobucket.com/albums/g298/ ... head/Lego/

Any feedback or critic is welcome.

It is hard to believe that is your first moc, it is incredible. The rockscaping, and path you have made up the rocks to the light house are very well done. The whole cave part is really neat too. I will be looking forward to seeing more updates of this.
You would rather be building right now.

Thanx for the complements! I'll see about getting some pics of the house uploaded. Funny you ask about it since I was planning on redoing it.

The two things that stood out to me were the cart (I actually really like the fold-down side) and the spiral staircase technique. I don't know if I've ever seen them done like that before. Doesn't look terribly sturdy, but it's tough to tell what kind of connections you have going on there.

Anyway, looks great! Keep up the good work!

Ok I got a few more pictures uploaded, these ones focus more on the blacksmith building with a couple of extras at the end.
As far as how sturdy this MOC is I have to make sure it can survive a 5 year old and his friends so it is a very solid and sturdy build.

The phylosophy that we have had with this build from the start has been that it not only has to look good but it has to be fun to play with as well.
Our goal is to have this done for my nephews B-Day, we're planning a Lego theme party with this MOC as the centerpiece.. I doubt there will be much left
of this after 15-20 five year old kids get thier hands on it but hey it is Lego after all, it is ment to be played with and in the end destroyed!

An update for ya..

This is part of the home for the forest dwellers in our land, its one of two towers to make up the tree village.

Image

Here you can see the mounts for were the suspention bridge will go.

Image

This shot shows what may hapen to you if you don't pay the toll.

Image

The enterance from the interior, yes there is an interior but I'll be showing that off when the whole village is done...

Image

A shot from the lighthouse.

Image

A few of these pictures won't be posible when the rest of this village gets done so I figured I'd take advantage of the situation while I wait on parts for the rest of the village...
Hope you all like the update!
