Yeah, the Troll/Orc King is definitely up there on the list. :orc: He stinks at all aspects of being a King.

I must protest, where is the evidence that the ork king is only the king because he's the strongest(he only has one eye after all). and who's to say to say that his men has to work long hours or that he'll kill you if you don't follow his orders. besides, he must be quite good to his subjects seeing as he doesn't have enough gold left to buy himself a cape that's not tattered, a crown that's not rusty, or armor that's not cracked.

I submit that king King Mathias is the worst king. not only did he tolerate his knights dressing like jesters, he also gave his kingdom to some nutcase in baby blue armor. not to mention the fact that every time that vladek guy showed up all but about three of his men deserted to the other side :o

Am I the only one who likes Basil? I think the torso's from that series were also very good IMO

I don't mind Basil, but I can see why people wouldn't want to live under his rule :o He could kick King Mathias and King Jayko's behinds three ways to next Sunday, though. The concept of an evil sorcerer king (although I don't think Basil was ever referred to as a King... help?) was also quite interesting. The more Basils you get the less useful they also seem to become though, although I've been able to employ some as Crimson knights (mostly by combining them with Vladek parts) and use the torsos for an army of skirmishers / light troops. If he opens a hotel, though, he'll definitely be the worst at that ;)

Basil the Bat Lord is not a king... he is a lord as his title suggests. Apparently he is also known as count too http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/Basil_the_Bat_Lord
So he has to be out of the reckoning. Personally I am not a fan of any of the last 3 or 4 kings that the kingdoms theme produced

Oh don't get me wrong, I do like a lot of the torsos and the helmet from Fright Knights, but my initial comment was to reference how awfully the theme was executed as a whole.

What about Theodin, King of Rohan? Or Aragon? And the Goblin King? They're kind of Castle-y.

And why limit it to Castle, which us mention King Kahuka and the Crystal King.

I think he likes to go a-Viking.

As Steve sort of mentioned in the above post...what about the Vi-Kings? ;)

I vote Mathias and here's why: He's the only Lego king to get REPLACED by one of his knights!!!!

What about those Kings who are absolutely ABSENT from their kingdoms, making it appear as their factions have no leader? Like the Black Falcons and Crusaders...

For me I believe the White Dragon Plumed knight in 6086, is the King of the Black Knights/Monarchs (same faction to me really).

Interesting. The white-plumed is my favorite. But I think he is not the king. On the box art, there is only one knight with a double flag on his lance, so I infer he must be the king. This harkens back to 6080 King's Castle, where you also have one knight with double flag (dismounted on the box art), with a rare black saddle, and the only one with a different shield, who stand so very much apart that he must be the leader/king as well.

I notice the same in the Black Falcon's 6073 Knight's Castle, where the knight in black has a double flag on his lance as well, so he must be the leader of the Black Falcons at that point.

Therefore I very much think that both the Lions and the Black Falcons do have a leader. There was just no crown to show off that time...

For me the white knight in 6086 Black Knight's Castle looks like a champion/paladin, the "first knight". Hence the white flag, the symbol of winning a joust.

Well, that's how I always looked at it. What do you think?

Kind regards
Keromar
