So it seems that Loreos is discussing their, currency, establishing a state religion, labeling an official special forces, and seceding from Rowia.
So I think we should start discussing this stuff ourselves, for currency I was thinking.
Gold Bears, Silver Wolves, Iron Stags, and Copper Hawks
10 CH = 1 IS
10 IS = 1 SW
100 CH = 1 SW
10 SW = 1 GB
100 IS = 1 GB
1000 CH = 1 GB

For religion, I personally think that we shouldn't have a state religion, but I guess it's up to the FO and the FL.
For special forces we could use the Knights of Illyria, since It's Garheim's only Knight order, and also it's only special forces.
And finally for seceding from Rowia, I think we should try to get a bit more independence, but I don't think we should attempt to secede.
Alright well that is all for now, hopefully we can start discussing this soon.

SCORES UPDATED! Please review for accuracy and completeness (thanks Gurusql!)

Winners for LC10 have been decided! They are:

Phase I Winner: Brother Steven's Messenger Falcons
Image

Phase II Winner Andhe's Preparing the Defenses
Image

I'd also like to commend Crazycrownieguy on his phase II entry. Your stuff is really getting better all the time! Keep up the good work!
We also got some fantastic storytelling from Brother Steven and EmperorMarkusI (among others), and a terrific cobblestone road technique by Eklund. For those of you not specifically mentioned, you're all doing great as well. There were elements of every MOC that I really enjoyed, and you are all helping me to improve as a builder by learning from your unique ways of doing things!

Be sure to go through all of the entries, and for those of you who haven't yet, please remember to add them to the Official Garhim Flicker Pool! (one picture per MOC in the pool, please)

I've also started a reference there for how to brick-build some of the fantastic animals that have been created for Garheim. Feel free to PM me if you have others. Thanks to Brother Steven for the awesome "Musk Ox" tutorial! (check the Flickr group discussion board for the link)

As for the discussions of official currency, religion, secession, etc.....

1) Currency - I think that Lenfald already uses the "Drake", and it sounds like Loreos may start using a "Mark", so if we want to come up with something, that would be fine. However, I don't want to get into a complicated tiered system, so let's just pick one name and use multiples of that.

2) Religion - I am 100% against establishing any "official" religion. Feel free to come up with whatever you like (or nothing at all, if you prefer), and if others like it, then they are welcome to follow suit. No official religion will ever be part of a requirement though.

3) Secession - As far as I'm concerned, we still owe our loyalty to the king. Additionally, I don't think that Lenfald has made any mention of secession, so if those traitorous Loreesi want to rebel against the king, then I say let them, and we'll come down on them with the full wrath of the united armies of Lenfald, Garheim, and the Royal Guard! Until circumstances change, we are bound by our oath of loyalty to the king, and that is something that we Garhims take very seriously.

Lastly, I think Loreesi Thomas Arrowford had some good points in http://www.classic-castle.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=21757&start=868 that are worth reading (think of them in the context of applying to Garheim).

Keep up the good work, everyone!

First of all, congrats to the winners of LC10! You definitely deserved it!

and second of all to respond to AK about the currency, religion etc
1) How about Bears or Wolves? They are both in Garheim, and I think a "Gold Bear" or a "Gold Wolf" sounds kind of cool :)

2) Awesome! I'm glad you agree with me. So I guess that's settled.

3) Good, I would rather stay loyal to Garheim and ultimately the crown then secede like the treacherous Loreesi.

Maybe for the currency we can get some ideas from this list:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_hi ... currencies

It wouldn't have to be an exact word, but maybe some variation of a northern European currency would work well.

!
The F.O has spoken. And I completely agree! loyalty to the king
CCG I really don't know about animal names for coins, I think they should have there own unique title. Something like.. The Garheim Toke, would be interesting. But I think the final decision should go to the F.O and F.L.

Btw AK I've got more great animals on the way! :D

Congratulations to the winners! There were some great builds and I think the FL and FO chose well.

I'm actually a big fan of the Silver Wolf being the currency of Garheim; wolves are not only a common animal in Garheim but many Garhims are taking Wargs as steeds and trained hounds. And, in many ways, silver is more valuable than gold; plus, gold is in the banner of those traitorous and ungrateful Loreesi!

I agree; we stay loyal to the King and the Kingdom of Roawia. I see a union between Garheim and Lenfald in order to quell the rebellion of Loreos and the Outlaws (who are now destined to unite).

EDIT : Thomas Arrowford had some good points and I just want to state, for the record, that the region my character inhabits (the mountains of southern Garheim) is known as the realm of Orevale. Not many Garhims live so far south but I'd like to establish a county/realm there. So far, Orevale has only two major cities - Castle Moore in Rustborough and Castle Black Loch in Krakehollow. Castle Moore's soldiers are primarily rangers, though their pikemen won renown in the battle of the Magic Isles whereas the soldiers of Castle Black Loch are an actual fighting force known as the Kraken's Whip. I have a build in the works for Krakehollow and Rustborough.

I put my vote with Ronan, Silver Wolf has a nice ring to it, and I came up with it, so I'm happy. :D
We should consider seeking an alliance with Lenfald, as it seems that they wish to stay loyal to the crown, we should unite with our forest dwelling brothers against the looming threat of the treacherous Loreesi, and constant threat of the Outlaws.

My only issue with "silver wolf" is that it sounds a bit strange when using it in context.

For example, "He paid his toll of seven silver wolves and went on his way." --- wait, so did he pay with ACTUAL silver wolves? Silver wolf pelts? With tokens called "silver wolves"?

The main confusion being that the term "silver wolf" is not exclusive to currency. It would be equivalent to calling American dollars, "tacos" or something like that. :roflol: It just seems like it could be confusing. I'd rather use a one-word term that is exclusive to being currency, like "toke", "kroon", "tolar", "jecht" (pronounced either "jet" or "jecked", I'm not sure) or "rube".

Do you see my point? What do you think of those suggestions?

Dear Garhims,

I am writing this letter to protest against the consideration of naming your currency "silver wolves". This is rather insulting for many reasons:
- being a werewolf I am not fond of silver, please make it gold, rocks or something else.
- additionally, I am a decent member of the merchants guild and I don't wanna get paid with a currency which is mocking my origin.

Thank you for your understanding!

Sincerely yours
Wolfgang von Wolfpack

Yeah... since werewolves don't like silver having a coin called "silver wolves" doesn't sound so cool anymore. :( How about a snow crown or maybe ice dodder?

P. S. Congratz to the winners! Everyone's entries were very nice :D

Hmm, yeah good point. I didn't think about those being oppressed  We could use a rarer metal or gem for currency, such as malachite or platinum, and "toke" or "jecht" sounded okay, though I'm still favorable to the shortened "wolvs". Just some suggestions.

On a different topic, here is my answer to the war animal theme going on lately - The Battle Ibex!

Yay! I won something! Who needs the CCC?! :P Kidding kidding! Now I've got enough points I may start up a story.

After reading round a few of the threads let me offer my opinion on things if I may.

Storyline should always be fueled by building.
I.e If you want to introduce a character, monetary system, religion etc as part of your storyline then great. But is it represented by and part of a MOC? I've seen similar groups get bogged down in trying to define every part of their 'world' rather than building and enjoying building. After all, it's about the Lego.

As mentioned in Thomas Arrowford's post, the LCC exists in a medieval/feudal type world. So laws/systems that apply in one area, wouldn't necessarily apply elsewhere. This again comes down to you being given the creative freedom to build and continue your own storyline within the world of LCC. If you see something you like in someone elses story then (with permission) use it in your own, to 'build the world'. Equally if I see something that I'm not keen on, then I am equally entitled to ignore it (except for Kings Council plot points I guess).
Less talking, more MOCing.
