Greetings Citizens of Garheim. Here is the official announcement of the Garheim's Local Challenge #11 – The New Soldiers.

The Challenge: As we begin the month of June, it is common to think of graduations. In this contest please build an original creation that will show new soldiers doing something for Garheim. This could include, but would not be limited to having new soldiers just finishing their training or fresh soldiers relieving the soldiers returning from one of the many battles from GC#4.

Requirements: The MOC should have the following:

• You must show new or green soldiers.
• Your LCC character must be in the MOC.
• Must include a story with your MOC.
• Including the Garheim standard is required.
• You must create post within the Garheim thread for official entry.
• One entry per member of Garheim.

Deadline: 11:59 PM Pacific Time Zone, June 23rd.
Any questions can be asked in this thread or PMed to me (gurusql).

Scoring:

• Everyone will get 3 points for entry
• There will be winner and honorable mention. The winner will get 7 additional points and the Honorable Mention will get 2 additional points.
• While I reserve the right to enter the contest, I will not be eligible to win since I will be the judge for the contest.

Any chance of a change to this? I'm currently trying to develop my characters story (albeit quite slowly) and subsequently my character has left Garheim, and wasn't really involved in the battle as a soldier anyway (this is a a general problem/challenge I find with most of the GCs/LCs but that's another issue).

So would I be able to make a scene that fitted your requirements but didn't include my character?

I think an easy fix would be to maybe make a MOC that doesn't include your character, but the story for the scene could be in the context of your character reading a letter from home describing what's going on in the aftermath of battle or something like that. (ie, your MOC is your character's visualization of the contents of the letter)

The most important thing is to figure out how to integrate your character into the challenges, I think, so as long as he's part of the story I think that should work.

That could be interesting. I'll have a think as I may just plough on with my own thing anyway, so don't feel you have to change the rules if you'd rather keep them as they are.

It's just something to bear in mind for those of us trying to spread our wings a bit (brickbuilt of course).

What are the standards for Garheim? Is it an official one or the ones we have?

"Garheim standard" just refers to a banner using faction colors of either dark blue and blue or just dark blue by itself. This just helps to distinguish your MOC as belonging to Garheim when going through groups of MOCs built by multiple factions.
