Re: Colossal Castle Contest: 11
Hey everyone...can we please let the staff answer the questions for the CCC? It is nice that you are helping each other out and I don't want to discourage that helpfulness, but as we are the ones running the contest, we are the ones who should be answering the questions. Thanks for understanding.

53 Yes, any LEGO product is fair game, even the chop sticks.ForestFriend wrote:Duplo blocks?
54 - Yes. You may have already seen entries by other builders from sources like Game of Thrones, the Hobbit, and Braveheart. These sorts of things are perfectly appropriate. Also, one of our categories is explicitly drawn on movie/book sources (the Arthurian category), and as noted one of the cross category awards looks to movie scenes.Tambor wrote:Am I allowed to create some scenes from a book or a movie for some categories as long as they seem to fit?

Re: Colossal Castle Contest: 11
I haven't seen anybody ask this question yet, but if someone has, I apologize.
Do the pictures have to be exactly an 800x600 ratio, or just that size or any size smaller? Eg, could it be 800x500 pixels?

Re: Colossal Castle Contest: 11
The biggest size is 800x600 or 600x800, you can go any smaller, but I wouldn't go to small, then you can't see detail. . All my entries are under that. 800x500 is fine.digger1221 wrote:I haven't seen anybody ask this question yet, but if someone has, I apologize.

I have been on edge about weather to submit my most recent moc, even to the misc. Category. The fig I wound up using was Indiana Jones, and he isn't really castle related. I then remembered how we have a lot of desert scenes, such as Disco's "City of Verdonia," and that those don't really fit into the "Castle" theme as well. I am just kinda on edge about if it fits or not... Normally I wouldn't ask anybody to look at one of my builds like this, but if you don't mind a judges opinion would be appreciated. Thanks in Advance!

Re: Colossal Castle Contest: 11
55 - Mpoh55 already answered this, but just to give an 'official' answer, the rules state "... no larger than 800x600 ...". The implication is that smaller is fine.digger1221 wrote: Do the pictures have to be exactly an 800x600 ratio, or just that size or any size smaller? Eg, could it be 800x500 pixels?
56 - A modern figure visiting castle ruins would be fine in the misc category. Just a suggestion, though, for you or anyone else facing this sort of issue: if the MOC is still together, why not just swap out the fig for a truly 'castle' fig? There's nothing about the landscape that is specifically modern.Takkata wrote:I have been on edge about weather to submit my most recent moc, even to the misc. Category. The entries have to be approved by the admins before they show up on the website. If you did something wrong, you will end up on the naughty list. Please check that thread:BTW I just summited three entry but I probably did something wrong so just inform me soon whether or not I did it right. Thanks!

As LCC Overloard, I will field this one.Luke the Swift~ wrote:this may have been asked but do we receive any additional status points for competing in the CCC
Luke, please ask LCC-related questions in the LCC discussion or FAQ threads, or in your faction's official thread. This thread is for questions pertaining to the rules of the Colossal Castle Contest only.
Re: Colossal Castle Contest: 11
A question from me, one that really confuses me. The category description says:
I had been quite sure it's the latter version (based on the examples mentioned), up until I saw the entries - all including fancy lights.
Thanks in advance for some hint.
Is "artificial lighting" meant to be the technique of lighting a castle-themed MOC (like PF lights) or maybe just a creation which shows medieval figs carrying medieval artificial lighting, torches for instance?Build a medieval scene incorporating artificial lighting. Ideas include exploring a secret passage, a vespers service, or a mob with pitchforks and torches.

57 - AK fielded this, but I just wanted to clarify that there is no connection between the LCC and the CCC. You are free to enter LCC builds as your CCC entries, or build non-LCC things, or whatever.Luke the Swift~ wrote:this may have been asked but do we receive any additional status points for competing in the CCC
58 - Yes, that category is supposed to be about MOCs that include some sort of electric lights.*,** See, for instance, answers 11, 17 and 21 above. This lighting could be official LEGO elements, like the light-up bricks, light elements that are included with some train, space, and mindstorms sets, or even incorporate one of those LEGO flashlights somehow. Or the lighting could be from one of the third party customs dealers such as LifeLites. Or you could use light elements from a clone brand company. Or you could just string your own wires and bulbs through your MOC.Toltomeja wrote:Is "artificial lighting" meant to be the technique of lighting a castle-themed MOC (like PF lights)... including fancy lights.
.
*I suppose you could light your bricks on fire, but I don't recommend that.
**Oh, one other thought, I just thought of official glow-in-the-dark elements, like the ghost or Snape's head. I could imagine using those as a creepy light source.

Re: Colossal Castle Contest: 11
If we were to win two categories, does the winner get to choose which one they "win"?
