It's been years since I've seen something new from Takeshi Itou (maybe I've just missed things because I don't check Brickshelf very often), but I just noticed his Bridge to the Elves Country posted yesterday. Anyone unfamiliar with Takeshi (probably my favorite builder) should check out his Brickshelf gallery or his personal site Castle Element.
I love the 'classic' studs up build of this MOC. The difference of style of the two sides, one elves, one men, looks really good, and really gives the sense of a border dividing two lands. I also the two different bridges, at separate levels. I wish I could do things like that.
I'm not usually a fan of things like exposed BURPs and plain, studs-up blue water, but I think in this case those features create a unique and charming feel. The bridges are superb and the buildings are well executed too.
Thanks for pointing this out, Bruce! I would have totally missed it otherwise. Takeshi Itou is also one of my favorite builders, and probably one of the biggest influences on my own style. I did a write-up of it here.
While not one of my personal favorites from Takeshi, this is still a very impressive build! The tilted bridge gives a unique look and the contrasting architecture on each side of the river is fun to compare
Very nice indeed. I love how he manages to keep the classic look and combine it with newer techinques. The arches in the bridge are gorgeous. Also, somewhat unrelated to the MOC itself but that classic background just makes me so warm and fuzzy inside
