Dwarves and Elves?

Just came to thinking recently and wondered why Lego never tried out some Elves or Dwarves, although for the most part I always thought the Forestmen were Elves. I know that many would think it was some Tolkien move or something, but we've already had Black Knights, Dragons,Wizards and Bat Knights. Doesn't seem out of the question to have Dwarves and Elves thrown into the mix someplace and would give some GREAT fantasy parts to the castle world.

Just think it would be great to have some Foresty Sets again for Elves and some Mountain Fortresses and maybe mines for the Dwarves. I don't really see it being hard to make either of the two.

Lego has never done any "fantasy" styled sets (excluding movie stuff like HP or even SW) Personally, I think this is a Good Thing. I do like Tolkien's works for instance, but Lego castle has always stuck to a somewhat historical vein through its history. When I think fantasy, I start imagining premolded pieces that would have only limited funtions. Besides, a fantasy line would only strike true with only a few people. It might be cool to a certain degree, but it's not necessary[/i]

I never thought of the forestmen as elves, but more as Robin hood-type people.

However, it seems pretty clear that Lego has moved closer and closer to the fantasy-universe in the castle lines over the years, dragons and such lovley creatures:D

And now we've reached the stadium where the knights get weird space-swords...too bad.

I also think that releasing elves and dwarf-characters would need a very big and long lasting story line from TLC, and i do'nt know if that goes together with the recent releases.

We can always hope though:D

I was thinking about use the KKII-shields for some elf-like people in the woods, what do you guys think of that?

I have never thought that Lego had any elves (in the form of Forestmen, etc.), or that they needed to make them. By the time I was hankering for Lego elves, I was more than willing to disassemble various Castle and Star Wars people to make one. Or several...

And I wouldn't really want them to make any, myself. Making my own is more fun, and I don't see how they could make any that would satisfy most fans without basing them exactly on the Lord of the Rings, and frankly, they have enough franchise stuff going with a lawsuit potential. Also, I think the time (also known as the time of the Lord of the Rings releases) is now past for the elves and dwarves to be made.

Of course, if they did make any, I'd surely buy them. They would surely have good parts.

Oh, and should this be in the "Dear Lego" forum?

I don't care too much for elves but they could make a new Dwarven castle line...it could have such classic sets as:

The Dwarven Forge...Dwarf attack squad...Dwarven mine...and maybe a set that would have a giant...plus this would open the doors to Norse and Norse mythology themed sets...

What about Dragon Masters, Fright Knights, and of course KK2?

My bad - I was thinking of this as I was writing and I put the "somewhat" historical in there for that reason. Lego has never completely crossed the line though in this regard. Even the fright knights carried (albit a bit of a vauge one) some of a historical element in it.

I always thought of Dark Forest as the real Robin Hood guys, because well the main guy looked JUST like Robin Hood hehe, but the rest just reminded me of Elves hehe.

The point was that TLC could come up with some decent plotline that would include them and it wouldn't have to follow the classic Tolkien garb. Maybe have Elves against Dwarves, thats a pretty well thought out rivalry throughout alot of fantasy.

They've crossed fantasy alot, Dragons with firebreath, magic wands and wizards, witches and airships hehe. Now they have Morcia, where knights can shoot lightning from their blades and have amazing attributes (ex, Santis super strong, Jayko super fast)

So its not far out of the question to what Lego has done recently and if done right could turn out to be good, in my mind anyway.

While it would be nice if they made actually cool sets, I'm much more interested in what the fans can design than what LEGO can design (which is always subject to cost/color/juniorization issues). With existing elements it is pretty easy to make dwarves:

Or do you mean tiny elves, of Santa's workshop or of various fairy tales? If this last, it's much tougher. I suppose there is Milmy:

but otherwise I don't know. Using stubby legs looks to squat for elves, who should be more graceful. The wings in these fairy-tale elves are also an issue, though you could use Milmy's wing piece held on by one of those backstuds somehow.

After the success of the Tolkien movies, I rather imagine that they are at least thinking about it. Maybe not specifically Tolkien, but something close enough to pass (kinda like Adventurers and Indiana Jones).

I think there is enough stuff out there to make Dwarves and Elves as it is (no, I'm not solely refering to Tolkien, I just like his spellings). So, I'm not sure that we specifically need to have a Lego-approved versions unless it added new and interesting stuff.

I wouldnt mind seeing elves but THEY HAVE TO BE VERY SEPERATE FROM FORESTMEN. Dwarves should be easy to make on the other hand...

I use ninjas for one of my races of elves and the Malfoy head for the other race of elves. I will have more pics soon as I am finally organizing my figs. 600 of 2000 sorted so far. I should be posting pics Tuesday.

Anyway here are some of my older pics of elves and dwarves. I prefer the hairy hagrid beard dwarves as I am not a good painter and I don't want all my dwarves to be old.

I don't base my dwarves or elves off of Tolkien's work, but they were an influence. So these are not movie or book based characters.
