Brickshelf down?

Post by Bruce N H »

Hi all,

I'm having problems accessing Brickshelf today (Friday morning). Is this just me or is there a general Brickshelf problem today?

Brickshelf is up again.

But you cant look at any of the folders, but you can look at things that say "Error in this server"

It's interesting how much our community depends on Brickshelf. There's been almost no traffic either here or Lugnet today.

Edit - Of course, five seconds after posting this I clicked to Brickshelf again and it's back up. Yay!

Kinda sorta. I just looked, and my Hoplites (http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/corsa ... ekHoplites) folder is gone. Vanished. Just Ain't There. Oddly, the pics are still there if I access their direct URL and the various links to the pics still work here, but the folder is not to be found.

Edit in: I contacted Brickshelf via the email listed later in this thread by me, and lo and behold, my folder is back. Ask and ye shall receive.

There must have been some sort of bug.
I couldn't access b-shelf for the last few hours, but it came back in the last half hour.

My friend seems to have a problem though. His member name is ApophisV and he cannot acces any of his folder or files on b-shelf. It seems that his whole folder has been deleted! Hopefully the admins will sort out the problem.

We were having the same problem this morning. It's good to know it wasn't just our computer acting up.

What would we do without Brickshelf?

There'd be less than half the MOCs shown around here. That's a very optimistic estimate too....

I've just noticed that my most recent folder (a CCC entry) has disappeared too!! It looks like lots of other people's folders added over the last couple of days have been deleted - does anyone know why?

Yipes. I just noticed that all the stuff I uploaded yesterday* is gone. Let's give it a couple of days, though. Hopefully this is an easily fixed problem that Kevin's working on.

*Nothing new. I'm just trying to reorganize my Brickshelf folder system to match the organizational tree of my website. That way if I have to move my website in the future I could easily use Brickshelf to host my images.

I've noticed, ever since Kevin moved stuff to a new server, people's old folders have been deleted. Why, I don't know. I do notice that if you keep clicking next, again and again, and look at every folder, and then do a search, some folders not even listed in the main gallery appear. Could this mean, after a certain amount of time, folders are deleted from the main gallery, only available from direct links or the search?

Yes, I noticed this as well. I hate it because some of the MOCS I liked are now gone! Possibly Kevin may be re-moderating them, or some sort of maintenance. I'm sure it will be sorted out all in good time.

Well I was gonna save my 100th post to announce a large upgrade to my project.... But since brickshelf has deleted the folder that related to it I guess I'm hosed. On a good note I did email the admins inquiring about my deleted folders. After about 30min one of them reappeared (a root folder for the project), this is good. But the new subfolder is still gone as well as another I uploaded last night.
I hope this clears itself up soon (or Kevin figures out what went wrong) which ever is 1st I'll go with.
On a side note... Brickshelf is very relaible IMHO, at least 98% uptime which more than I can say for my server lately. We are forever in Kevin's debt for the service he provides. If I could stop buying Lego I could send some $$$ his way as a donation to keep things going/make them better.

Fred

ps... As soon as I get my folders back I'll announce my upgrade on the 101th post.
