What do you use your (minifig) army for?

Post by Lord_Of_The_LEGO »

In light of Forester's recent minifig thread, I was wondering, what reason to you guys have to stock up on a ton of figs?

I chose 'Some of the above' because I want to participate in war gaming and perhaps set up large battle displays. Bragging rights is also cool.

Some of the Above was my vote, because I do use it for display purposes, and I'd love to be ABLE to brag....

I should have maybe said that the poll is flawed though, since the primary use for my medieval military is play.

You know, take all the good guys, put them in a castle, and have them fend off rampaging hordes of maniac baddies....

Well, I don't have tons of figs as I stated in my thread but I play a modified version of Brickbattles/ Brickwars with my frineds(when I can). I am also working on a story right now. Nothing much so noone et excited, I jsut like making LEGO stories is all.

Back on topic. I voted for Some of the above.

PS. Thanks for amking this thread Nathan. I was going to make something like myself.

Idunno - unless the voter explains their "some of the above" vote, that selection still leaves me wondering what they collected a horde for. Is this poll only aimed at people with "tons of figs"? It would seem so, but I rather imagine people won't make that distinction. What consititutes "tons", anyway? Why do I have to over-analyze this?

Since I aquired most of my hoard (10% castle figs) from various ebay and bulk transactions with no intention of building an army I chose other on the poll. If I had the time and printer ink I could make another 300 or so "extras" and populate my RP world. Then the need for more figs would be eminant. For now I'm just going to concentrate on aquiring castle figs to make the main characters and maybe all the buildings from the main city.

Someday I hope to animate them and then use them to conqueror the world, crushing all resistance beneath their ABS feet...

On a website I know of they played peoples flash movies they had some ones of animated LEGO men, but they were all very violent and TLC sued their Megabloks off.

Hello!

Sometimes I use the army (Black Falcons, the only big army I have) for bragging. Though my amount is not that astonishing anymore and actually I'm glad it's not.
Sometimes I need the troops for populating my MOCs, though, when I think about it, that only happened once so far. Usually the troops are useless.

I chose the "Large-scale battle displays / illustrations for stories" choice, as there wasn't really one that fit my choice and it seemed closest. I don't have a huge army; far from. However, it's purpose is to use with MOC's. I myself have no reason to have a large army: My 24 Black Falcons with blue-rimmed shields and brown spears serve me and my MOC's well!

That's more than you would get if you had each set that contains a Black Falcon fig one time. (This count is 23 (incluing the Canadian 6103, excluding the re-released Black Falcon's Fortress because those BF figs are different).) Thus I say 24 guys with the same emblem are a reasonable army.

Mostly my armies fight each other for space inside their boxes in the closet. Someday I will have a bigger place and set up a huge castle siege.... I'm slowly building a walled town, but I just don't have the space now. :)

I use my figs in my MOCs, I sometimes display them baseplates in my room, and I have been known to play with them every once and a while. I think minifigs are supposed to be played with and used with Lego, not as stand alone soldiers. Overall, I don't have what would be known as a ton of figs and I don't plan on building up any armies. Besides a few rare pieces and old castle figs from sets like 375, I'd rather spend my money on good old Lego bricks.

Well I use my figs for several things. I use for display. I would brag about em if I had enough. I use em to populate my MOCs. I use em to play with. I would like to some day use em in a Brikwars type game. Basically for everything. I have to few figs at the moment to not have any use for them other than good looks. At the moment I only have maybe 250 figs that can be used for Castle (and thats with a bunch of stickers).

Dan
I build, therefore I am.
