This thread is about set speculation, not about existing sets. It belongs in Dear LEGO so I am moving it there.

That is interesting. Somebody on BrickLink posted this a month or so back:
In the year 2005 will the Vikings from Denmark conquer the lego world!

So watch out - lego will get back stronger than ever in 2005

I had assumed that this was just a nonsense post comparing TLC to vikings, and just trying to say that TLC will have a strong product line in 2005.

However, I have held onto a tiny thread of hope that they really are going to make viking sets. If they could do it well, I would collect them all.

*EDIT* A picture has been posted...

Yeah! Now that is what I'm talking about!

That looks great, even if the hull appears to be one piece.

I wonder if TLC will be so bold as to create fortified English churches for the Vikings to attack?

At last :D
I'm so happy right now, I want to cry
That ship is sooo amazing, look at those shields. This really made my day.

We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
The hammer of the gods,
Will drive our ships to new lands,
To fight the horde singing and crying:
"Valhalla I am coming!"
-Led Zeppelin

That would be simply fantastic if true. I suppose a simple
huge piece is the only satisfying way to get a properly
curved longship. But fuzzy photos drive me nuts - you
can't see any detail. I think the helmets are classic movie
style (incorrectly have horns) without any mail unlike
current "bullet" and "flaired" helmets. Shields look like the
large radar dishes similiar to the ones used in the
Adventurers line (too big, too dished). Still, it's gotta be
better than Jellybeans! Nice sail - note the awning and
steering oars. So: Vahalla or Ragnorak? :D

in 2005?

I... I.. don't know what to say.

but if true then this is something I have been wanting for a very very long time. I am so looking forward to this, but I am trying NOT to get my hopes up because I was also anticipating a return of castle... and you see how well that turned out. While I am happier with the new KK2 sets, and I think they fixed a lot of the problems I had with that theme, its sort of a monkey paw problem. :D

So for now I am content to wait and see.

I might have to cry after seeing this...tears of joy though...maybe it will be a fantasy theme with dwarves and giants...imagine the possiblities! Maybe they have round shields again...instead of those space radar dishes...but sadly it looks like it is made of 17 pieces...it also looks like Adventurers will make a return...I do not think I will be getting a PSP this year...or a Nintendo DS...which means no new Animal Crossing...or Castlevania...

YES!!!

Finally! Lego is really coming back to their old ways! Well... sorry Forestmen, but you have to stop playing the part of Norse now that Lego is coming out with Vikings. :D

Upon close inspection, the shields on the side of that Longboat are 3x3 radar dishes.

Wow, i saw this in the other thread in General Lego, but I am mighty hopeful that this is true and not just some cruel joke designed to taunt us lego fans.... Also, I was surfing Eurobricks, and I came accross this....

Maybe you guys couldn't use a giant lion... but I sure could... Oh, the possibilities, or with the wolf.....looks promising.

Umm.... what if it's Duplo? Lone Ranger made the comment on the other thread, and I think he may be right. :?

Look at the flame piece on the dragonhead, the 3x3 radar dishes as shields, and the LITTLE guy behind that huge ballista.

Those don't look like Duplo to me. Unless Lego wanted small Duplo figs which would be a choking hazard.....

I think it's system. And if it was Duplo, wouldn't the skin be skin-toned?

Now I'm having some doubts about them being minifigs scale. I just don't know. guess we'll have to wait.
