Sava (c) Brand Viking Shield Template

Tested and Perfected

Ok... I'm better.

I've finally printed out and tested my viking shield template, and after several tweaking attempts I've come up with a template that fits very very nicely.

Unfortunately, unlike the octagonal shields, the stud in the middle of the shield isn't the same size as an actual LEGO stud. So unlike the octagonal shields, a standard hole punch won't create the right sized hole AFAIK. I had to cut that little devil out by hand. Ugh.

I've also created a different version of my previously released falcon viking shield, this time in a triangular configuration.

I'll be downloading all the pictures from the toy fairs to do all of the original viking shields I can find, as well as all the original factions (as per usual). I'll also be creating some unique designs all my own (if no one minds, that is).

I will, of course, put them all together in an article when I'm finished.

Wow!! looks great, looks like there shall be a nice little (or possibly large) article to look forward to.....hrm, did you measure the hole, and see what the diameter is? and i look forward to seeing your custom factions, and i don't think you'll find anyone who will say they mind.... and if they do, i'm sure there will be a lot of us Savafans who will protest...lol

I measured both the stud and the shield. The shield is about 2.3 cm in diameter, and the stud is 0.65 cm. Due to the rounded edge of the shield, I made the design a bit smaller, and to make it a better fit, I made the hole for the stud 0.7 cm.

I try to make the process of making a new template design as scientific as possible. This one, fortunately for me, was pretty easy.

Yay! Yippy! A new shield comes out and Sava goes to work.

One thing though, the new shields seem to have a rounded piece that snaps over the center to cover it up; that might increase the diamiter of the hole needed in the sticker.

Lookin' forward,
