This week’s set is 6071 Forestmen’s Crossing

Forestmen’s Crossing was released in the US in 1990. The set has a river spanning bridge that is connected to a tree and a rock fortress. Four forestmen, a rare forestwoman, and accessories are included in the set.

My fiancee, now wife (& NLSO), gave this set to me as a pre-wedding gift back in 1992. She kinda knew what she was getting into with marrying a Lego-maniac, but there are times when Lego-creep gets to her.

This was a fun set, especially having the river spanning bridge. And of course the Forest Babe is great. At the time, I didn't realize how much of unique piece this mini-fig would become. Through the years as I've bought, sold, and traded my collection to "improve" the mix, the one thing that has remained 'sacro-sanct' is the Babe. For me, she represents my wife's love and support for me in my minor (non-wife) obsession.

Aggh! Stop listing sets I don't have! The pain is unbearable!

I've seen this set before and while its not the greatest forsetman set, it's design is pretty cool. A neat thing is, is that is is one of only two sets that have the brown ladder, the other bieng the siege tower.

I love this set. Great minifigs, and great playability. Too bad the baseplate comes with little white dots on the studs where bricks go, otherwise the set would be even more useful.

THe only thing that I really like out of this set is that you can get alot of forestmen and forest weapons out of it. Very handy for the forestmen collectors.

One of the 2 sets that I never even knew were exist until 2000 when I found it on the web. This set never arrived Israel nor been in the catalogs and therefore I don't own that it.

As one of the four sets that the Forestmens had (I mean caves and trees and not the carts) it's probably the least impressive one. The tree is pretty short and not very attractive (in compare with 6054 for example). Though that set had some very special parts.

It's quite obvious that the spotlight of this set is the original one set only green/white female torso.
Also that set included the green/black forestman which were only in one other set 6066.
Also unique parts are of course the base plate and that set had a brown ladder which was beside in that set (and in 6061 which some1 said) also in 4588 http://guide.lugnet.com/set/?q=4588_1&v=z
(4588 included 2 brown ladders but only came out recently in 2002).

Again the original parts masters the set.
Final result IMO is 8/10.

2 things I forgat to say about that set:

1. The female minifig had also the only minifig hat rag in green.

2. It had a nice alternative model in Idea Book 260

I really like this set. One of my brothers had it. I believe that it fits in very well with the previous Forestmen sets. The hidden doors are cool. I like the "well". All of the figures are wonderful. In addition the bridge was very cool when it first came out.

One thing that bothers me is the river itself. A skip, hop, and a jump is all that would be needed to cross it

I believe I have stated before how highly I think of this set. Aside from the skinny river and the printed dots, this is one of the best castle sets ever made. As stated before the figs are excellent, the variety of rare pieces is great. The overall usefulness in terms of play value and as a parts pack is excellent. Did I mention I love the forest woman fig...

The brown ladder was recently made available in a big racers set. Can't remember off hand what the set number was, but it did come with two. For those Western Canadians out there, the set is still available at Superstore for $30 CDN.

It also comes with brown 2 x 2 round bricks. Not a great great set like the 6071, but there is the odd useful piece. I'd give the river crossing a 9.5/10. Would have been a 10/10 but there are white dots on the baseplate.

Like Ben said, the river is troublesome.

I mean, either that river is REALLY deep, or the current is REALLY strong, cause there's no other reason for having such a crossing over something so small.

That or it's like really full of pirahnas and other nasty critters.

I mean heck! The guy in the picture is practically swinging over the river on a vine not even using the bridge!

And that's all I have to say about that.

Hello!


Now, that's a cool set. Besides its useful parts (of which this base plate is not the best because of the whiote dots) it tells a real story. Maid Marian arrives! The selection of minifigs is excellent, one of each available forestmen-minifig is in this set.

As said before this set was available only in the US, so I never knew it before I discovered it on BrickSet in 2000. I only knew the baseplate for it was used in the alternative model in Idea Book 260, and I always wondered where this base plate might have been included...

Arghhh!!Classic-castle stop listing sets i don't have.Anyway the set has good minifigs,good accessories and good pieces although i don't have this set it looks great.

This set is really great! I don't understand why this set wasn't released in Europe. It would have been a succes. And then i wouldn't wonder where the heck that baseplate came from which i saw in the 260 ideabook.
Anyway. Great set, great scene, great minifigs. I would love to get this one, but they are rather expansive. maybe, someday....

I thought this set was great. I believe it was one of my first castle sets, but alas my only true Forestmen set. Those where the years that I was young and really know money so I lost intrest a little. I still love the set but I can remake it because the bridge go skrewed up. I love the pieces, the figs and the baseplate.
