*UPDATED 3/5* In Progress: Round Tower & Gate

UPDATE:

I got time to finalize my plans for this project. For now I'm making the outer walls to a walled city. The gate that I made is one of three along the outer wall. There are still many things that need to be done on these parts. Please tell me what you think and how it can be improved. I plan on covering the rest of the green baseplate with sand green, dark gray, and tan plates. The 'road' to the main gate is going to be updated to look more like stone.

I really like the shape of the tower and the landscaping looks good as well. I am not a fan of the sand colors, but this works. I'm looking forward to seeing how the tower progresses.

(A little hint though, when you are taking close up pictures, try to remove stray hairs from the MOC.

I generally do remove the stray hairs. I guess this one got overlooked.
I find that the sand green works very well with the main castle colors; dark grey, light grey, and tan.

I think this is a nice start to a tower. I think the choices of colours works well with the Swamp idea. You might want to have vegetation and perhaps moss/lichen coloured brick in parts of the lower keep walls - unless it is always kept clean. Stuff in a swamp - or tropical environment tends to get green without too much difficulty, especially near the water.
Good luck with building it and the stuff that gets in the way!

very nice tower, and the landscaping is coming along nicely. I never thought of using all those slopes like that, but it looks great. for a small tower like that I usually wait to do the landscaping afterwards, but I may have to rethink this approach. Thanks for showing this.

I started using slopes for landscaping when I got about 500-800 sand green slopes for about 2 cents a piece off bricklink. In the same order I grabbed obout 250 2x2 Dark Gray bricks for 4 cents a piece. I think it was Troy's Surplus store, they had a huge sale. I got over 1200 pieces for about 40 dollars.

I like the shape of the tower and the landscaping is great. I love the use of wedges and slopes instead of the usual plates and bricks for landscaping.

I agree. The slopes make it look like there's moss and washed-up gunk (that's a technical term) on the rocks around the base of the tower. The only thing I'd suggust changing is where you have green or slope bricks going underneath the tower wall. I wouldn't feel safe in a castle built on moss!

Beside that, you did an excellent job on all the landscaping and the shape of the tower. This is gonna be really awesome when it's done!
