Yeah...I'd love to do WW2 stuff, as most people know.

I haven't forgotten about it, but it's not the direction to
go right now. There are other themes that need to be
addressed, before I run off with something so "niche".
Let's face it - although it would be really cool to have WW2
stuff from a historical, collectors point of view...it's bound
to offend some people.

If you kept to weaponry and gear, I don't think people would have a big problem. The #1 concern is stuff with the swastika on it, which will offend people.

One of the things I like about WW2 weapons/gear is that it doesn't look so different from modern weaponry. Sure, they didn't have the M16, but WW2 rifles and machine guns do look a lot like contemporary ones. I think WW2 would be a good hit becuz it covers multiple eras, the same way that the SW Guns are useful for any science fiction guns!

Let Blasterman concentrate on the modern weapons right now I need them to outfit the 40 or so Joes I have done and the 100 or so Cobra's. Blasterman if you read this, I need UZi's, MP-5s, mortars, m-60's, and AK-47's and all kinds of other neat things that go boom.

All seriousness aside, that is very disappointing news. I hope you will come back to them at some time. Thw WWII stuff does look rather hopeful. Nazi paraphenalia may offend some, but what would WW II be without them? How can you appreciate a blue summer sky without seeing a dark winter's night? Doubtless someone in the world will be offended by American insignia as well. Don't let PC Nazis stop you there.

Any chance you could be bribed...uh, I mean, that is, talked out of one helm in any way, shape, matter, or form?

If no swastikas, use the iron cross and that other cross used by the german army under that time. It wont offend.

As a 8 part jew, I dont really care. If its for historical correctness its allright.

It's not that I would have anything made with Nazi markings...
just that WW2 German stuff will still offend some people.
Heck, I love the stuff - "best dressed army in the war".

But that's not the main reason for not going with WW2
right now anyway. It's really a matter of addressing a more
needed, highly wanted, all-around theme.

I haven't "given up" on any other castle stuff. I still have
plans to do more, better stuff, when I can.

Pirate stuff would be cool, I mean hats, new swords, pistols and other pirate accessories, but Blasterman should think about a bit more about himself and a bit less about us

I've ALWAYS wanted to see a more passable 17-18th century pistol for LEGO.

Jeff, would you care to give us a teaser on what you are/are thinking about working on right now? I'm sure everyone here is really interested in whatever you've got planned... you gotta whet out appetites with somethin'.

I would like to throw in my three cents' worth, though this topic is probably grown old...

I would adamantally agree with the WW2 proponents. After all, who was that guy who sold the WW2 tank sets? If I heard right, they sold like Dr. Pepper in the 60s! Now he sells just a CD with the directions.

Anyway, all those guys out there who did not get ahold of one of those sets and are trying to copy all of that and build a kick Megablocks tank would wet themselves over getting ahold of a uniformed Minifig or authentic weapon. Especially those who are trying to, or already have, built huge modern-ish minifig armies. Like that one guy whose pictures on Brickshelf show an entire bedroom floor covered in an Aussie looking army.

This is far from a niche, as those weapons will doubtlessly be used in many ways. A niche market weapon would be like a Zulu shield or Inca war club. And as for pirate weapons, I think Lego already has that sufficiently covered.

Plus, those weapons could be used for WW2 American, Russian, Allied, etc. forces as well. As for offending someone, having a picture of a castle figure buttering his bread with the sharp part facing toward the camera would offend some people.

Do the WW2 weapons, you know you want to.

When I say "niche"...I'm comparing the WW2 weapons
against modern weapons. Modern weapons would most
likely have a stronger impact, generally speaking.

However - true...WW2 weapons could be used for just
about any military era. And eventually, I'd like to produce
them. As long as someone doesn't beat me to it.

BUT...what I have planned for Aug., will undoubtedly knock
the socks off of just about anyone. I'm raising the "bar"
several notches this time, regarding accessories.

Oh come on! You've got to make the great helm! That thing will SELL, guaranteed. The first helm you made was just too similar to the regular lego pointy-visor version to sell that big, as nice as it is. But there is no regular lego great helm, and probably never will be, especially after they just came up with 5 new visors last year. The great helm was THE classic knight's helmet for like the 300 main years of castledom! I'm sure multi-part molds like that would be required for one are not cheap at all, but you'd go down in the annals of lego classi-castledom as the classy castleman of all!

I'd buy 10 at $5 each, to start.

I'd buy around 10 or 20 at $4-5 each, myself. But that's not going to change Jeff's mind, I think. I'm pretty sure he's already scrapped the helm and had molds made for other stuff - since he's going to be debuting them at Brickfest.

They're probably almost all ready. It's very sad. I mourn that I'll never own that beautiful helm.

I was really sad to see that the newest collection of weapons was sold out. I was planning on ordering them.
