Target Discounts KK2

Post by TwoTonic Knight »

Just a heads up for everyone that has a Target retail store near them. The local one for me had all the KK2 at 30% off, with the exception of the Joust set being 50% off (see, official marketplace acknowledgement of its design). The trick is always to catch these things at 50% off or greater, and each Target tends to have its own ideas on what prices to set and when when to move them down.

Sadly, it is not the same everywhere. I actually work at Target in Pa and there are currently no such discounts, that is except for my team member discount, hehe. There are tricks to receiving the merchandise cheaper, such as asking for a discount for a damaged box (even if there is not much damage).

I agree with Aviah that the target sales are not uniform across the country. Border Ambush and Vladek Encounter were both only 20% off at my Saint Louis target (since sold out) and the joust and castle are still not on sale. On top of that my target never had many of the kk2 sets to begin with so I may not get any of them on sale :?

Some good news is that the duplo castle sets are on sale 30% but I have not broken down to get them. I wonder if I will regret that...

TwoTonic Knight, what part of the country are you from? Maybe the sales are based on Targets geographic settings.

As I noted in my opening message to this thread, Target sales are entirely store dependent. Some will open up with minor 10-25% discounts. Some will go straight to 50-75%. Some items may go on sale immediately, some items may not join in for several weeks, even within the same line. Some stores may lag behind on when the items go on sale. Some may never put the items on sale. Don't assume that one store has the same discounts as another, even if only a few miles apart.

I'm from Southern California (a fact that sometimes gets lost because I put in fanciful locations to match the rather fanciful titles the admins delight in inflicting me with). 8) SoCal, in my experience, often lags behind much of the country when it comes to Target LEGO sales - the stores here tend to start with a mild discount and then work up over the next month or so. It isn't regional in that there is some plan behind it, except clearing off shelf space for the new items coming in for fall.

I've been to about four Targets in my area and they all vary. My best deals have been on the 4757 Hogwarts Castle which I got for $40. Most of the Harry Potter stuff is a least 20% off and most of it is 50% off. The KK2 sets are starting to be discounted now as well.

My Target finally started larger discounts on some sets. I believe they are 30% now :? All they had left of kk2 was one Citadel and a bunch of big Vladeks. Hmm perhaps those Vladeks will get really steep discounts ;) Even the non-castle sets were raided and all that was left on sale is bionicle.

Got a half-dozen of the Vladek sets at 50% off, but I still had to pass on the big KK Castle at half off. I don't particularly care for it, and I have my doubts that it will regain much of the price above 50% of its MSRP even after sitting around fermenting in my garage for a few years.

But if it hits 75% off, it might look a little better...

If you want an investment, buy the morcia. Go on ebay and check the prices for a King Leo's Castle. Ive seen that sell for 150 with spirited bidding. Just resell morcia during Christmas time in 2006, trust me. Of course this is only good if you want to hang on to it for a while.

(Looking at 100 or so LEGO sets in my garage, maturing like fine wines)

Well, then perhaps I stand corrected, but I like to hold out for the 75% off if the sets will last until then (but the trick is you have to be there the morning the price changes).

I was there as they marked the sets to 75% off

I just got back from Target. They werre marking the sets and I was taken from them, and putting them in my cart. :) They didn't have much KK but they were getting rid of alpha and HP. I picked up (1 bus 4755, 2 shack 4756 , 2 Siris 4753, 2 4754 dumble hut) a couple of the duplo castle sets for my son. I bought 6 alpha sets 2-4774,1-4746, 2-4770. Best $120 i have spend in a long time, seeing it would have cost me $480.
