Classic Castle:
Official Roleplay Faction Name: Empire of Legoland
Also Known As: the Classics, Legoland, Classic Legoland, the Empire, the Legolanders.
Capital: The city of Orion, located at J-10
Ruler: Emperor Constantius VII.
Brief Background: The Classics are the superpower in Dametreos. The Emperor’s Cavaliers are the overall most elite troops. The Empire of Legoland is made up of several vassal kingdoms. Each kingdom has its own order of knights or soldiers. During the BloodVaine War, Legoland was occupied by BloodVaine, and the final climax of the War was the Battle of Orion, fought in and around the city. The Classics have since rebuilt. Orion is also known as a great centre of learning and study.
Other: Legoland’s island territories constitute the vassal Kingdom of Talistrand. The rest of the composite kingdoms are located on the mainland. The Shamrock Knights (Order of Club Knights) are located there. The capital is the city of Talistrand, located at N-24.
The Imperial Cavaliers (Crown Knights) are the Emperor’s own troops. The Red Cross Knights (Cross Knights) were disbanded after the BloodVaine War. The Tridentines (Knights’ Procession soldiers) are another order of Knights, as are the Chevron and Crimsom Knights.
The Black Falcons:
Official Roleplay Faction Name: United Kingdom of the Black Falcons.
Also Known As: The Falcons, the Black Falcons.
Capital: Falconis City, located at G-7.
Ruler: Queen Helen Tillshire-Falconis
Brief Background: The Falcons are the second greatest military power in Dametreos. Ruled for the last couple centuries by the House of Hohenzollern, they completely conquered the Bull Knight kingdom in 1995. Later, they sided with BloodVaine during the BloodVaine War, invading the Royal Knights and the Black Knights. King Falconis XXVIII died during the war, and the country was thrown into turmoil. First the Marquis d’Durlass and then General Martin Humbolt seized power, until the Falcon Resistance, a group organised to fight Falconis XXVIII’s tyranny, rebelled and instituted a more democratic government, ruled by Queen Helen. Peace has since been made with the other nations, and the Falcons are rebuilding their country. The land taken from the Bull Knights has since been returned to recreate that nation.
Other: The Black Falcon islands are located south of the continent. Their capital is at Peregrine, located at F-21.
The Royal Knights:
Official Faction Name: As yet undetermined. Presumably the “Kingdom of the Royal Knights” or something similar.
Also Known As: The Royal Knights, the Royals.
Capital: Castleton, located at G-8.
Ruler: Lego XIII
Brief Background: The Royal Knights have historically been allied with the Classic LEGOlanders. During the BloodVaine War, the Royal Knights were invaded by the Black Falcons. Their king was killed. As the War ended, and the Black Falcons retreated, Crown Prince Kjeld returned from the Royal colony, and took up command of the country. Aided by a plague, the Black Falcons were driven out, and Kjeld crowned king. Kjeld was killed only a few months after, and his son, Lego XIII became king.
Other: The Royal Knight portion of the northern island is a duchy under the command of Lego’s brother, Kristian. It’s capital is Kingston, located at D-2.
Crusaders/Lion Knights:
Official Faction Name: As yet undetermined. Presumably the “Kingdom of the Crusaders” or something similar.
Also Known As: The Crusaders, Crusader nation. Never known to be referred to as Lion Knights.
Capital: Port Crowne, located at N-10
Ruler: King Robert
Brief Background: The Crusaders are the most prominent naval power in Dametreos, although until the recent death of King Richard IV, their navy suffered from a lack of royal support. Prior to the BloodVaine epic, the Crusaders suffered from Dragon Master attacks, and the country suffered during the BloodVaine War from the Great Fire and a lack of organised leadership. The recent ascent of King Robert to the throne appears to have stabilized the country.
Other: The Crusader colony is located on the northern isle. It is ruled by a governor in Leidenheim, located at G-2.
Dragon Masters:
Official Faction Name: Dragonar
Also Known As: the Dragon Masters
Capital: The Fire-Breathing Fortress, located at G-10
Ruler: King Ajaxx
Brief Background: The Dragon Masters are known for their use of tame dragons. They are also known, stereotypically, as rough, evil, and cruel. This is not regularly the case. They are alone among the factions, in that they have officially sanctioned slavery. During the BloodVaine War, Lord Void was temporarily deposed as his general, Del Grakken, overthrew him with BloodVaine’s support. Many remained loyal to Lord Void, however, and after the war Lord Void returned to take command of his people. The Fire-breathing Fortress was destroyed during the war, but one of Lord Void’s first initiatives after regaining power was to rebuilt the fortress. During the summer of 2005 C.C., Lord Void's rule was threatened by Commander-General Ajaxx Dragonsbane. In September of that year, Lord Void's magic failed him, and he was successfully ousted. Ajaxx then took the throne.
Other: The Dragon Masters have two offshore provinces. Monilious Dracis, whose inhabitants are known as the Midlanders, is ruled by the sorceror Drock, and formerly by his brother, the sorceror Jarvick. Boranis Dracis is a larger isle half-Ninja, half-Dragon Master, whose Dragon Master inhabitants are known as the Outlanders, currently governed by Governor Caimlin. The inhabitants of continental Dragonar are known as the Mainlanders. Much of mainland Dragonar is desert, ideal habitat for training dragons.
Black Knights/Black Monarchs:
Official Faction Name: Kingdom of the Black Knights
Also Known As: The Black Knights.
Capital: Rathborg, located at I-13
Ruler: King Edwin Wyrmsbane.
Brief Background: The Black Knights were major victims of the Black Falcons during the BloodVaine War. They sustained heavy casualties in defending Rathoan, and preventing Black Falcon invasion. However, the Black Falcons did not succeed in invading, and the independence of the kingdom was saved. Most of the energies of the Black Knights were then put to rebuilding their country. At the official celebration marking the restoration of the country, however, King Sirion was felled by an assassin's dart. The speedy intervention of the Emperor prevented civil war, and saw the rise of Edwin Wyrmsbane to the throne.
Other: The Black Knights possess the Golden Horn, which is blown in times of need to summon all able-bodied Black Knights to the defence of their homeland.
The Black Knights seem to be fairly tolerant of smugglers and mercenaries. Gerald Vos and his men originally came from their land.
The slaver city of Anka Dolour (H-21) and the island on which it is located is nominally in Black Knight territory, but it has been many years since the Black Knights bothered trying to assert their presence there.
Forestmen/Robin Hood’s Men:
Official Faction Name: The League of Forestmen
Also Known As: The Forestmen, the League, the Foresters.
Capital: Delvarden Gard, located at M-8.
Ruler: Lord Bjarn.
Brief Background: The oldest of the Forestdweller nations, the Forestmen are a coalition of forest-dwelling tribes. In recent years they have been the major peacekeepers of the northwest, allied with both the Wolfpack and the Dark Forest, factions that have been at odds many times. During the Fell War, the Forestmen maintained a mostly neutral stance. Their leader at that time, Isaac, died, and Bjarn, long excommunicated, became leader of the League. Bjarn guided the kingdom through the evil days of the BloodVaine War, when the Forestdweller peoples were assaulted by Aezazel, and then by the Great Fire. Drullen Bell Keep, the fortress guarding Delvarden Gard, served as a refuge for all Forestdwellers, and as a base of resistance against BloodVaine. Led by Bjarn, the Forestmen fought against the forces of BloodVaine in the Battle of Orion. During the Wolfpack Civil War, the Forestmen borders were sealed to help contain the conflict.
Other: The Forestmen offshore territory is located on the Fell Isle. The entire island escaped being razed by the fire, and served as a source of supplies and safety during the BloodVaine War.
Dark Forest:
Official Faction Name: The Kingdom of the Dark Forest
Also Known As: The Dark Forest, the Dark Foresters, the Foresters
Capital: Hemlock Stronghold, located at L-7
Ruler: Queen Arabella
Brief Background: The Dark Forest began as an offshoot of the Forestmen people, becoming independent in 1776. The were ruled for much of their history by a council, until falling into anarchy. Fallmir Kath resolved this by creating a kingship, and claiming it for himself. Fallmir died in 2004, sparking the Fell War with the Wolfpack. Fallmir’s son Radjar became king, and led the fight, eventually winning the war, and defeating the Wolfpack usurper, Defoe Grimtongue. During the BloodVaine War, the Dark Forest mainland was razed in the Great Fire, with its people fleeing to Drullen Bell in Forestmen territory. The Dark Forest participated in the Battle of Orion, on the victorious side, helping defeat BloodVaine. Following the war, the kingdom was rebuilt, and very nearly plunged back into war with the raging Wolfpack clans, who had become embattled with each other. The lords of the realm confronted King Radjar, and forced him to choose between joining the war and keeping his throne. Radjar chose to continue fighting, and voluntarily abdicated. He was replaced, at the advice of the Classic Emperor, by Lady Arabella Louise Fornsir. The Dark Forest, meanwhile, sealed all its borders for the duration of the Wolfpack Civil War to contain the conflict.
Other: The Dark Forest provincial capital on the Fell Isle is named Swordbranch, but the location is unknown so far.
Wolfpack:
Official Faction Name: As yet undetermined. Presumably the “Kingdom of the Wolfpack” or something similar.
Also Known As: The Wolfpack, Wolfpack Members.
Capital: Daggerfall, located at R-8.
Ruler: Willem Blackcloak, King of the Throne of the Three Daggers.
Brief Background: The Wolfpack are known as a somewhat criminal faction. Certainly, their interfactional spy network is renowned for its efficiency. The Wolfpack have had a troubled history. In early 2004, King Willem left the kingdom on a short adventure, and his throne was seized by an advisor, Defoe Grimtongue. Grimtongue soon embroiled the Wolfpack in the Fell War against the Dark Forest. It ended poorly for the Wolfpack when the Dark Foresters vanquished them, aided by the returning Willem Blackcloak. During the BloodVaine War, the mainland Wolfpack was burnt in the Great Fire, with the people taking refuge in Drullen Bell, in Forestman lands. Willem and his armies joined the allies against BloodVaine in the Battle of Orion, and returned home victorious. However, it wasn’t long before Civil War broke out in the Kingdom, as Ciroal Grimtongue, the sister of Defoe, took over the country, and threw Willem in prison. Willem escaped, but the country blew up in War. Four major factions battled for control of the country, led by Ciroal, George Houndstooth, Varras, and Swift. Ciroal originally held the upper hand, until Varras, aided by Swift, took over Daggerfall. However, Varras fell himself soon after, as Swift changed sides and led an army against him. With Swift’s victory, peace was restored, and Willem Blackcloak was free to return.
Other: The Wolfpack are the only faction other than the Fright Knights to have their capital off of the continent. Their provincial capital on the mainland is Siastrakahn, located at L-8.
Knights’ Kingdom (2):
Official Faction Name: The Eastern Knights’ Kingdom.
Also Known As: Easterners, Eastern Knights’ Kingdomers, Knights’ Kingdomers, Knights’ Kingdom Secundus, Enex Kausinium, Jellies (a derogative term) and the Rainbow Knights (also derogative).
Capital: Morcia, located at N-15
Ruler: King Matthias.
Brief Background: The Eastern Knights’ Kingdom was once a part of the same nation as the Western Knights’ Kingdom, but those days are long passed. A nation composed of rather independent fiefs, the central control, such as it is, lies with the Morcian province, where the king lives. The Easterners are often the butt of other people’s jokes, a situation probably arising from their highly unique architectural and cultural styles. As a general rule, the Easterners are more given to colourful pageantry and uniforms than the other nations. During the BloodVaine War, the Eastern Knights’ Kingdom was afflicted by the Great Southern Blizzard, and played but a small part in the war. They were also afflicted at the time by war between two of their provinces, Talonjay and Alendan. With the intervention of the king’s men, this was soon enough ended.
Other: There are five major provinces in the Eastern Knights’ Kingdom: Morcia, Talonjay, Alendan, Banteras, and Orkosan. Three are located on the mainland (Morcia, Talonjay, and Banteras), with the other two on Kingdom Isle (Orkosan and Alendan).
Ninjas:
Official Faction Name: Ninjara
Also Known As: The Ninjas, the Ninjarians.
Capital: Kyoregoto, located at E-12
Ruler: Emperor Regojin XXXIII
Brief Background: Possessing a unique culture and civilisation, the Ninja people are often aloof in Dametreos. Alone among the factions, they were unaffected by the BloodVaine War. They are also physically cut off from the rest of the factions by the impressive Norodorok Mountains to the east, and the Dragon Master deserts to the north. The Ninjas would seem to have no real allies in Dametreos, but no real enemies either.
Knights’ Kingdom (1):
Official Faction Name: Western Knights’ Kingdom
Also Known As: Western Kingdomers, Western Knights’ Kingdomers, Knights’ Kingdomers, Westerners, Kausinium.
Capital: As yet unknown. Presumably on the Mainland.
Ruler: King Leo.
Brief Background: Once a part of the same nation as the Eastern Knights’ Kingdomers, the Westerners are a more conventional, and have not got the same, undeserved reputation as their eastern cousins. They were severely hurt by the Great Southern Blizzard during the BloodVaine War, and played little part in ending it, seeking mainly to rebuild.
Fright Knights:
Official Faction Name: As yet undetermined. Presumably the “Kingdom of the Fright Knights” or something similar.
Also Known As: The Fright Knights
Capital: The Barrow City of Gynthaunt, located at O-18.
Ruler: She-of-the-Barrow
Brief Background: A reclusive people with a darker reputation than most, the Fright Knights are ruled by She-of-the-Barrow, a mysterious and powerful witch. During the BloodVaine War, when her lands were blanked in snow during the Great Southern Blizzard, She-of-the-Barrow contributed to BloodVaine’s defeat by giving the Allies the spirit box needed to kill BloodVaine, containing the spirits of those he had slain. Since the war, the Fright Knights have again become reclusive, only assisting the Dragon Masters in building a navy to transport their slaves.
Bull Knights:
Official Faction Name: As yet undetermined, most likely something along the lines of “the Kingdom of the Bull Knights”
Also Known As: The Bulls, the Bull Knights
Capital: Taurus Stronghold
Ruler: Lord Barbod.
Brief Background: The Bulls were a small kingdom east of the Black Falcons. In 1995, C.C., they had a major altercation with their more powerful neighbours, resulting in the loss of their lands, independence, and basic identity. Only a secretive group made it south to Bull Isle, where they remained hidden under the rule of Lovana. In 2004, Barbod, rightful king of the Bulls, reappeared, and eventually made contact with Lovana, as well as with another group of Bulls sheltered by the Falcon Resistance. Brought to Bull Isle, Barbod took command of his people, and brought them back into the affairs of mainstream Dametreos. Although a small faction, they played a major part in the BloodVaine War, formed part of the Allied force at the Battle of Orion. Although recognised as a once-again legitimate faction by the Emperor shortly after the battle, it wasn’t until the overthrow of the Falcon government by the Falcon Resistance that a treaty returning them their lands was made with the Black Falcons.
Other: Alone among Dametreos’ nations, the Bull Knights had no island territories. This changed with their colonization of Bull Isle after the conquest of their lands, but they still have very little offshore territory.
Shadow Knights:
Official Faction Name: Not applicable.
Also Known As: The Shadow Knights
Capital: Not applicable
Ruler: Currently unknown.
Basic Background: A faction different from all others, in that the Shadow Knights are a secretive and landless force. Although they seem to possess a fairly large army, as well as various ships, they have no territories and no known infrastructure. Historically, they are descended from the Scopos Clan of King Kris’ era.
Other: Although their current leadership is questionable, the Shadow Knights were formerly led by a man known as the Shadow King. He was last seen in combat as sea with the Lone Ranger.
Pirates:
Official Roleplay Faction Name: Not applicable
Also Known As: Pirates, privateers
Capital: Not applicable.
Ruler: Not applicable
Brief Background: Not a proper faction in a legal sense, the Pirates of Dametreos are many and varied, from near-legal privateers to despicable traders.
Other: Although the Pirates have no legal territory, the city of Anka Dolour (H-21), and the surrounding island is essentially pirate-controlled, and is a major slaver port.
