That was actually a decent looking ship! :?
Though clone bricks suck, some of their set designs are kinda cool.
Brown Ship Masts!
Lego needs to take note of that!

Im guessing that was a megabloks set?

I saw something like this on Myth Busters, except they were trying to burn a raft (or that's what they called it :? ).

Too bad the death ray didn't get those clone figs!

I beleive this is a best lock's set. You know this would be a good set in LEGO. Not burned that is.

Nope, it was actually a Best-Lock ship... and I've been planning on buying it... (shhh).

I can promise you the quality sucks, just picking that ship up might have resulted in the whole thing breaking in two, but it is cheap (20 bucks, I think), and has some unique stuff to it that can be valuable. Also, like you said, it's somewhat impressive to look at.

Kinda sad to see a toy being destoryed... but at least it's not LEGO. :)

You can see some best lock castle stuff on my story site... guess I know how popular that area of my story is around these parts! :D

My model destruction tool of choice is a cherry bomb. It's much more satisfying to have a main magazine explosionm...
