You have made your point, Nick. Too many times. Anymore bluntly negative posts with no useful content will be deleted.
Why delete an opinion you don't like? I agree that there isn't much to his post in the way of a supporting argument, but I don't see how saying this set sucks bothers so many people.

Now to my opinion...

I like this set. Including a nice set of armor in a small set like this is a great move by TLG (it is TLG again, right?). The wolf looks good, too. Rather, the wolf looks INCREDIBLY EVIL. :D

Still, I'd rather have the wolf's space taken up with a couple more minifigs, but maybe Vikings year 2 will include a minifig pack. Here's to hoping.

P.S - All my Vikings (or just about all) will have beards. Do any of Redbean's beards fit over armor?

Very cool to see you pic Zee - this is something along the lines of what I was considering, and it's nice to see how good it looks in "real life". Cool!

Yup, the articulation is quite good and with the right pose, it does look great. I am definitely thinking to get more of this set. Hope u get yrs soon :D
.
Right now, I am actually thinking to drill a couple of small holes along the wolf's spine so that I can stick some horns along them. That would make them look real nasty.

Lenny made a good point about the pieces being used in different themes which is good. The only thing I am really looking forward to is the black armor.

I believe this set is going to cost in the 3$-5$ range here in the US. If that is correct, I can see myself loading up on these. Not only is the new Vikings like awesome, I can see using those black armor for my castle figs too :D

Well, ok, no more negative opinions from me.
However, I don't support this restriction of oppinions. I understand that the admins can do what they like, but oppinions can't always be positive, you know.

I don´t think your opinion was the problem... I think the problem is that you´re just saying how much you just hate everything that´s new. You could rather say what´s so incredibly awful with it all and how it could be improved ;)

The Fenris wolf is interesting, though I'm not sure it is to my tastes. I do know that I'd like this set a whole lot more by the simple deletion of the funky spear/shield thingie and the awful KK sword and inclusion of the proper Viking shield included in other sets. The euro-armor I can switch to a knight, so that's a bonus (what's the torso print on the fig???). As it stands, I'm ambivalent about this set. Maybe if it is really cheap (and maybe a certain infernal region will freeze over, too).

I agree with TwoTonic in that this set -should- come with a proper Viking shield. Those things look great, and yet we can't stock up on them with the small sets? Not fair. And instead of the shield, we get that ridiculous spear...round.. thing..

But besides that.. I'll probably pick it the set when it hits Canada. The Wolf isn't to my tastes (either), but it might surprise me up close. Or I'll strip it for parts. And the figure is cool. I think the helmet is a bit silly, but I'm sure I can make it work it into something.

The sword is lame. But I have plenty of Red Bean and Little Armory swords laying around.
Forge not works of art but swords of death, for therein lies great art.

I really like this set. Maybe not 10 but definitely a 9.

The set comes with two somewhat unmotivated red jewels. Or so one thinks. When he saw them my five year old son said that he'd seen a dragon with jewels for eyes and so we tried using them on the wolf! I think it looks even better that way.
Best regards, Infyrana

Dude, its half the price of Vladek Attack, thats cheap!
The torso print has a scalemail with those round thingies (I dunno what they are called, but they have been typical for norsemen since the copper age!). Great torso like the others.

For those unaware of the prices: Vladek Encounter is 90 SEK (Swedish Kronor, and I'm rounding off ore and pennies) and Fenris is 50 SEK. Since Vladek Encounter is $9 US that would point to a $5 price for Fenris.

On the other hand, Vladek is 5 pounds in Great Britain, and Fenris is 4 pounds, which would indicate a price somewhere around $7.50 US (probably plus or minus 50 cents). As you can see, pricing is not always consistent between countries. (in France Vladek is 9 euros, Fenris 6 euros, and Australia the difference goes the other way and is worse than in Britain).

U.S. price? Low of $5 to probably a high of $8. My "really cheap" quote that started this meant less than $5 (I'd count $5 as a good price, $8 as a "Well, maybe I'll buy it when it goes on deep discount in a year or so").

From what I've seen of the torso prints, I presume you are refering to the one with the roundels. I can't say that I have even seen a Viking depicted with those, nor do they make a lot of sense on non-plate armor, since they were intended to cover the gap between the breastplate and the pauldron at the armpit, which was covered by flexible chainmail underneath. I think they were going for a kluged-together look on the armor as the warrior picked up what he could and added it on.

Actually, those "roundels" are very common in the norse culture, they were added to belts, jewelry, bracers, etc. But then they were of course mostly decorated.
