My best eBay deal so far

Post by jamtf »

Got this less than a week ago and it has already arrived at my place (very swift voyage accross the ocean):

http://cgi.ebay.com/LEGO-Castle-Armor-S ... dZViewItem

Not such a bad deal I would say and the box is in better condition than the one that Ben purchased some time ago. In July this sold on BrickLink for $250.00 and there is one available now on BrickLink for $300.00.

For those who are guessing, yes the box and the parts are really sealed still and no, I am not going to open it.

I´m sorry if I sound stupid but what´s the point of buying it if you´re not going to build it? :?

But what´s the point of owning a cardboard box full of plastic bricks?

No offence meant, I´m just curious.

I guess it's worth so much, that he dosen't want to spoil it by opening it.

Anyway, good find jamtf. :D

That is an incredible deal!

But, I will say, the only reason I buy MISB stuff is to open it... to me, something only has value if it is USED, and I very much enjoy the process of opening the box and tearing into the bags. But, hey, that's just me.

It makes about the same sense as collecting stamps or coins, Maedhros. Sure, you can't really do anything with stamps, or spend your coins.. but it's fun to know you have them, to see which rare ones you can get ahold of.. stuff like that. That's sort of the essence of collecting (at least, that kind of collecting).

I don't do it, myself -- but it's no less valid than collecting to use.

No offence taken. I have the set loose a couple times as well so why open it if I can build things with the same bricks that are used.

The unopened sets are the real treasures of collecting. In a couple years this set will be 25 - 30 years old. It is the joy of having a set in absolutely mint condition that was sold many, many years ago and no one besides the Lego factory personell ever touched the bricks.

I guess you can call it collecting.

I'd be tempted to flip in on bricklink, but that's just me.

Maybe if it was an especially special set to me, I'd want a MISB box.

Yeah, I would just sell it on Bricklink and buy several opened ones.

Wow, and it was buy it now. That guy didn't know the value of it at all. You lucked out big time. :D .

If you have copies opened, then it is definitely a good idea not to open it. It will only increase in value over time.

Okay, enough debating the merits/lack of merit of MISB collecting. You can dig up or start another thread on that...

As far as this goes, if you ever choose to sell that, and do a good job of making its sale known, you will be in for a goodly amount of cash there, Jamtf. Congratulations!
