You'll remember the castle talked about earlier this year in this post:

A german friend of mine informed me that "Schlafendrache" didn't quite make sense in german, and recommended a name change. So ... Drachenschlaf it is! The Castle of the Sleeping Dragon.

I won't bother repeating the post here, so go there for more info.

I finished the castle, and brought it to NWBrickCon 2005. I've updated the island with a new outpost and tower, modified and improved the manor, and several towers (including the "dinky little tower" 8) ). I also built a medieval cog (ship) which I think turned out great.

Castle made a much better showing at NWBC this year, with several outstanding medium-sized castles, and a fair number of smaller castle MOCs. I was really honoured to have Castle Drachenschlaf voted "Best in Show" by both the public, and my fellow AFOLs. Very cool!

It's simply a beautiful presentation, a bit more the post-medieval castle in looks. I really like the cog! Wou;ld it be possible to get some more detailed pictures of it in particular and the castle in general?

Edit in two seconds later: Ahhhh, Bruce H. covered that base just a few messages down the list as I was typing this.

Edit in again: And sure enough, Bruce has locked that thread, so perhaps he can add those links back in to this thread (hard to keep up sometimes). :D

I really like the cog as well. The castle as a whole is quite inspiring.

Hi Robin,

As I already told you at NWBC, and as everyone else is, this is fabulous! Highly inspirational for me - There's a lot of unique constructions and designs in it.

It was also great to meet you in person, and be able to see this beauty of a castle in a person. Once again, congrats on all the awards you won with it: You deserved it!

That is a beautiful castle! A world unto itself, and I could get lost in there! Seriously, what fun this would be to play with - hours of enjoyment.

I am amazed at the level of detail, and impressed with the obvious time and resources it must have taken to create this.

This may be my favorite large scale MOC ever!

PS: And the other post has a space invasion going on! Now that's pretty cool.

Truly a showing of creativity - from the structure of the landscaping, to the towers and peaks, to the cog... all the way down to the minifigs! It would have been easy to have some soldiers marching around, but you have some monks and peasants... ahh... it's really a pleasure to view!

Oh my! (mouth drops in shock):shock:
So much detail don't no where to start.
Like the fountain on the curved wall, the cog, the layout, the many bridges, the two sloping walls, the landscape, the smaller hidden doors, the curved stairs, the towers and on and on and on....
One word: Wow!
Lego should sell sets like this(Goblin can dream can't I).

I've got a few ideas in mind, and I've definitely been bitten by the micro-scale bug (for something completely different ...), so we'll see.

I also really love the whole steampunk genre, and have been wanting for a long time to create something along those lines. Then again, there's space ...

Too many cool themes, too little time ...
