I've always enjoyed the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. Great for anyone who is a closet spacer. And they've got an IMax.

For those in the DC area, I'd reccomend a visit to Staunton, Va. Why? Because it is home to Shenandoah Shakespeare Express and the theater they perform in "Blackfriars Playhouse, the world's only re-creation of William Shakespeare's original indoor theatre."

Well, I assume the Globe counts as a recreation, but for those of us in America it's hard to get to. Anyway, there's great MOC inspiration in the building, and these guys do Shakespeare like no one else. They visited my college, and really wowed me with the accessability of their performance. They want you to know what the heck is going on and why, and they perform in an the authentic Shakesperian tradition- their motto is "We do it with the lights on" because theatrical lighting didn't exist in William's day.
