Fake lego from China
Ehh... not literally stolen... the sets were not in a LEGO storehouse and then swiped by men in black masks under cover of night.Graynar wrote:If these sets were stolen from the TLG, then how come they have enlighten bricks in these sets as well? Were these poor quality pieces added?

Enlighten bought a sets(?), looked at the instructions, and mass produced the pieces in whatever color/quality was most convient for their operation costs & bottom line.
As a result, you can imagine the quality and aesthetic value of their product.

I wasn't being entirely serous, and partly sarcastic. You are loyalists, yes. To Lego.
Some are even fantaic, such as those who burned that ship:

Have you checked out that guy's website? He's no LEGO fanatic. He just has a healthy respectable(by me anyways) profession of burning stuff with a deathrayNick wrote:I wasn't being entirely serous, and partly sarcastic. You are loyalists, yes. No, no, a thousand times no. This actually made me delurk and finally register so I could vote no.
Horrible quality, unethical business practices, ripping off another company's designs (I don't care if they're retired designs, it doesn't make it any less wrong).
I have no use for companies like Enlighten, and if you think they do it for any altruistic reason like giving poor kids in less privileged countries the opportunity to play with such toys, think again. They produce them for export. 'nuff said. They copy the packaging in hopes unsuspecting chumps will think they've stumbled upon a great Lego bargain, or think "meh, what the heck, it's probably close enough to Lego." Their concern for the customer extends as far as hoping you are able to reach for your wallet and cough up money and no further.
Anyway, um, hi, I'm new here. *waves* I've lurked for a while. You have a nice forum. I'll introduce myself properly when I have another free moment.

This part actually made me laugh out loud - funny way to end such a passionate message (to which I agree 100% with, by the way - couldn't say it better myself).Queen Goan wrote: Anyway, um, hi, I'm new here. *waves* I've lurked for a while. Anyway, nice to hear from ya, and look forward to more!

I am not concerned with what the company owner's intentions are, but what I was in Russia, I saw these sets sold on every street corner kiosk, and believe me, Russian parents will buy these sets to their children rather that the Lego sets. The word 'quality' is very realtive, especially in Russia, and 'unethical' business that provides the childeren with an opportunity to enjoy Lego sets (though not directly
) is not considered unethical at all.
You guys shouldn't be greedy, as lego has neither profit nor loss form these sales.
Yes, they are designed for both internal sales and export, but they are exported to Asia and Eastern Europe. They get to Western Europe only via secondary retailers.
Believe me, Lego is seeking profit as much as Enlighten does, otherwise thay would have a price ratio if 10 pence per brick.
