Fake lego from China

Sorry to renew the topic again, but now I've taken pictures of a couple of these enlighten sets, just to show that they are virtually identical to the corresponding Lego sets.

But anyway, I said more than a mouthful on the previous thread about fake LEGO from china... so for this thread, I'll just reference those comments and vote "no" .

I didn't even have to think about this one! I voted "no," even without seeing the pics. No matter how alike the pieces look, there's still that matter of loyalty. Lego has carried me through life and brought out the best of my creativity, and to buy something else--even something greatly similar--would be betrayal (at least for me).

Wasn't it established that these sets were essentially pirated copies of LEGO sets? While these may be great for young brick-builders with limited budgets in developing countries, I can't imagine why those of us in developed countries would buy them. Wouldn't you think that these would take business away from TLC and thereby drive up the price of real LEGO? Would you ever consider buying an illegally pirated CD or DVD from some shady character off the street? It's exactly the same thing.

I'm with ottoatm and eNiGMa on this one. I don't need the folder to be public (though deeplinks would've been nice) to vote an emphatic "No."

I guess you could make an argument for this, but I don't see it personally. They are pirated copies of Lego sure, but they are pirated copies of sets that are out of production. If I were to not buy the pirated copy and, instead, purchase the set from Ebay or BrickLink, LEGO still doesn't make any money. However, they could hurt LEGO's reputation if someone were to mistake these knock-offs as the genuine article.

Oh, and I voted no because I do not support piracy of any sort...not even piracy of pirate sets

Brickshelf moderates its images. That is, when you first post something there, it is not viewable by other people until a Brickshelf administrator checks that it's okay (this is because someone posted pornographic pictures there a coule of years ago, and they want to prevent a repeat of this as it's a site visited by many children). Until they moderate it, any url that looks like this:
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=1363331
leads to a page that says "This page is not yet public." Sometimes it can take up to a day for the images to be public. To get around this, if you click on the photo on Brickshelf again you'll get a page that is just the photo, without the surrounding Brickshelf frame, and the url will look like this:
http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Miros ... prison.jpg
That is publicly viewable right away. That's called a "deep link".
