Wow, that, um, is a big, cool set. No chance on earth of my buying it though. I agree with Steve that a modular series of sets would be better, at least that way I would be able to get some of the figs. But at a half a grand, there is no way. You Lego Ambassadors should tell the TLC to adjust the Canadian prices. I mean we have a 25% mark up (for this set) from the U.S., but our dollar is now par, or close enough.

Still, that is one cool set, and I am really glad they included things from both Death Stars.

Uh, yeah! No joke. Years of mediocrity that had us more than just a little worried. Then 2007 shows signs of life--now 2008! Holy mackrel (is that even close to spelled right?). Man I gotta save up for the giant Chess set. I guess this is a classic exapmle of the old Arabic caveat about wishes; "be careful what you wish for. You may get it."

What can 2009 hold? No wait, let me get to my nebulizer first...

It's truly awesome in scale of figures. It's not a bad playset, but any of us could likely build a better Death Star if your collection has been going since the introduction of fleshies (and plenty of nice parts). I am a little miffed at certain design flaws that make a modified official set necessary. The cell block tunnel does not appear to connect to the trash compactor, some of the corridors and gun emplacements just violate my eyes also. It's like a modular Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle in terms of design, but LEGO forgot to break it up into smaller complonent sets that allow you to build it how and as you like it. To my eyes and mind this just seems strange how it was designed. I'm sure LEGO is trying to get the "Biggest Box of Awesomeness Under The Christmas Tree" category here.

Again, to the minifigure components. What if we wanted a full squad of 12 of the Death Star Troopers? No way am I going to army build this set... likely they'll do smaller sets for 2009 (perhaps battlepacks?). Most of the character and troop figures have shown up in different sets (except the DST), but I have to really complain (we like that  ) about the heroes only showing up in this set and the $499 Millennium Falcon sets. Kids shouldn't have to shell out that many bucks just to play the heroes!

Other than that, tiny TIE Fighters are funny, but I'd prefer a larger hanger for a proper sized TIE... and where you gonna park any of the minifigure Millennium Falcon sets?

If this year didn't have so many good Castle sets, if the City sets were not such nice additions to my Town, and if those Agent sets weren't so tempting... the this might be the top of my list. As it stands, it's at the bottom... but the list I have still sends all my hard earned money to LEGO, so what's the complaint?

No, it does, but the chute is on the wrong side of the corridor. ;)

Man, this just adds to my already expensive list of "want" items....why does every awesome LEGO set have to be so expensive...hopefully there is a price drop, if not, I doubt i'll be getting this any time soon.

See, you're not helping.

I am trying to make myself believe it belongs on the bottom of my LEGO list. Bad enough that the Jawa Sandcrawler went on clearance sale this week, and 9v track. My opportunist personality is just trying to make excuses for me to order more!

this is silly. the price is incredibly high. i'll probably get it later when it is on sale, like the sandcrawler.

I really like the Black C-3PO droid guy, I don't know who he is, but It looks like it might be one of my fav figs. I'm defiantly buying a couple.

A couple of the sets, or just the figures?
