Is that real? It has so many figs  . It's really cool regardless though.

If this is real, I am going to have to save up for it. Those minifigs! I absolutely love to black protocol droid, the black R2 unit, and the black guard. That helmet is totally sweet!

I saw something similar on Brickshelf once...let me see if I can find it.....

AHA!

So now TLC has resorted to pulling ideas right off of Brickshelf?

Nice find, Athos!

God bless.

Dear Lego: Can we scale back the awesomeness a little for this year? You know, meter it out a bit to relieve the stress on my checkbook...

It`s simply fantastic. But the price (400 usd probably) is to high.
But the set is awesome :)

Random thoughts: Holy crud! That's an amazing set! I'd like to point out that, once again, LEGO listens to me. Price is going to be tough on this. Over the past few years they keep making bigger and better sets but at a premium price (e.g. the super-duper chess set). I like how they made this both the DS1 and DS2. It looks like they've re-done Luke's torso (the lines look darker to me), and is C3PO a different color? Why do they call things like the mouse droid a minifig? I'm tempted to open a Bricklink store solely to sell exclusive figs from the upcoming DS set and just put together a bunch of mouse droids. Great to have Leia, but a little annoying that once again, major female characters are hard to find outside of hugely expensive sets (We've had Leia in the 3 Millenium Falcons at $100, $100 and $500, Cloud City $100, Jabba's Sail Barge $75. The only cheaper sets were Jabba's Palace at $30 and the umpteenth X-Wing at $50. Padme was in the $90 Pod Race and at least was in one small set, Ani's Racer $15. As the father of a daughter, why don't we have more options for female heroes in smaller sets?) Anyway, price gripe aside, this thing is amazing! Do we have any confirmation that Christophe was involved, or are people just pointing to the similarity? If the latter, I'm not overly convinced, as it is a big playset made into a sphere, which doesn't seem to stretch the bounds of imagination that they would have come up with on their own (it's not Brucey-wan's Omarr B'onk after all).

As a playset it looks fantastic. That being said, I cringe at the prospect of paying $600+ for this (CDN). I picked up the Falcon because of it's iconic status and its striking detail, but this set seems geared more to those of us who still play with their figs. The build itself seems rather straightforward when compared to some of LEGO's more recent offerings so I'm not sure yet if I'll be picking this one up.

Still, it's definitely a good set for the major SW fans out there.

Someone on Eurobricks just posted this:

$399.99 USD
274.99 GBP

3803 pieces

Scheduled for release in September, pre-orders are earlier than you think!!!!!

Sounds about right. £274.99 is very expensive though!

Wow! Simply an amazing set. It seems to have pretty much every major scene to ever take place in the Death Star! Gorgeous.

Wonder what the piece count would be.

I'm thinking a price of $300?
P.S. If you need help making MOCs, making posts, or don't know what to do next, please, let me know! I'm here to help! ;)

Don't get me wrong, it looks great, and it's sure to be set of the year, but alongside 852293-the giant Castle Chess- it's another one of those sets i'm not willing to spend on just yet. There's no way I can afford it!

That is a way better deal for the money than our castle chess set.

This may be the first mega-expensive set I actual break down and buy.

And if the rumors are correct and the Death Star gets featured in the upcoming TV shows, they may be able to "repopulate" the set with prequel figs and release it again.
