I've mixed em, with some surprisingly good results. The Dragons sets were good until 2005 IMHO.

EDIT>> I see that you are a newer member, so I think it's understandable if you thought Jojo was being mean or hostile, but I can tell you that this rarely happens at CC compared to other large forums, and Jojo's been here long enough so that I'm sure you over-reacted/misunderstood his tone in the post...

In any event, I can agree that the early dragon sets did have some nice pieces, although I've never gotten my hands on them. The weapons were my favorite, although I always considered using the figs for golems of some kind.

A while back, I bought a large bucket of Legos from garage sale. Although I did not realize it, many Megablocks were mixed in. It kind of funny, because I had a bunch of Megablocks plate which were exactly half the height of a brick, instead of the normal 1/3. I thought these were great. It was only about a week ago when I was going through my entire collection sorting that I realized that they were Megablocks. I through them away, but it does seem sad, because 1/2 brick sized plates are so useful.

I only can guess. And I can see an analogy to the very (very!) old cellulose acetat bricks from the 1950s up to 1963. Those CA bricks are old but neither precious nor pricey and least of all useful, because they tend to lose their shape. They are twisted because the material wasn’t appropriate. That’s why they are cheap, and that’s why you often find such bricks in larger lots of Lego bricks on Ebay. Sellers mix them with the good stuff to make their lots appear bigger and thus more valuable. And that’s why i don’t let such pieces come back into this circuit but rather throw them out.

I throw them away. And my reasons are first that I never really get a lot to sell on eBay or anything like that. Second is that once I've taken them out of my collection I certainly don't want them getting back in by accident. And third, I'm a purist. I don't even alter my bricks. When I customize a fig, I use window cling material so it removes clean. I don't put stickers on from sets. I want my bricks to be clean and LEGO. Fourth, while I know there are lots of deserving charities and children who could greatly appreciate any toy donation, I would much rather buy a new bucket of LEGO and give a child greater means for creativity.

I sell them if I can't use them or don't want them. You'd be surprised how many people want them and what a good buck can be made from MB parts. In fact, if you search MB Dragons on Ebay right now, you'll find me selling a pile of Dragons sets as well as the FABO Alien Agency sets. Believe you me you, those sets are pretty darned awesome and the pieces have some higher grip than many 2003-2006 pieces I've used. The BEST MB part ever is that 2x4 grey slump-stone piece introduced in the Dragons series. I'd trade ALL my LEGO orange and lime-green for those in a heartbeat... so if you are thinking of throwing them out...

First of all, I believe even the most ardent purist will eventually admit that his ferocity is feigned and that all the ranting and raving against MB is simply a bunch of meaningless, sarcastic joking. So don't be offended.

Now to the real point: I (sadly) did mix Tyco and MegaBloks with LEGO, but only because they came in garage sale lots. Also, that was way before I was old enough to know any better. About three years ago I went through my entire collection (which needed sorting anyhow) and separated all the clone brands from the LEGOS. Now my LEGO is pure and clone free! I gave the bucket of clones to my younger siblings - finally they had there own "legos" and stopped pestering me to play with mine! However, this only lasted until they found out why I had separated the clones. As soon as they found out, my siblings where suddenly just as ardently purist as I was. Back to asking to play with my LEGOs. Oh well. Right now they're packed away so in preparation for moving, so NO ONE gets to play with them!

I mixed them when I was really little (don't pretend you didn't ),but now I have an involuntary tic that springs up every time I touch them... I am now such a BLOK-nazi that whenever I see one in my collection, I fling it away to be exiled to the other side of the room !!!Muhuhuhuhahahahaaaa!!!

Also, why the LEGO bashing Trojan? LEGO has as much right (and even slightly more, some would argue) to this earth than MEGA-BLOKS, in fact, you should respect LEGO, cause without it, MEGA-BLOKS wouldn't even be here!

The only time I got any Megablocs was when I bought a mixed bags from Value Village, I gently used goods store. I sorted out the Lego and re-donated the rest back to Value Village (a portion of sales goes to charity).

As a child, I asked my Mom to buy me a transforming robot set made with Tyco bricks. It looked really cool. I think some of them are still in the Lego bin packed away.

My first "block product" was Tyco. When I was a kid I didn't know the difference, except that TYCO plates are half a brick thick, not 1/3. I also bought two Viking ships for $5 each, and they were worth it. The parts don't stay together too well, but the minifig accessories were actually really cool. When I find a MB while sifting in my LEGOs, I usually just throw it back, but TYCO bricks are usually almost indistinguishable except for the LEGO logo on the stud. I use these in non-important spots, and they work fine.

I wouldn't buy MB now, and I'd obviously rather have LEGO any day, but I don't think MB are worth all the fuss they get. I'd prefer some over the KKII jellies for sure. I found a castle window, but I only had one. It was amazing, but I couldn't find it on bricklink, so I assume it's from someone else's collection of another type of brick that found its way in. It's a 2x1x3 gray window, almost like the Lego train windows, but the cutout is a much better shape than the boring rectangle. I'll have to take a picture when my camera returns.

I am sadly guilty of the crime. I use to play mega blocks with my sister on a giant mega block table. I always would call the little cat "Tiger". Sadly there were some Lego's in there as well. Dark times they were.
Right now, whenever I find a fake Lego, or something that is not Lego related, I take it out immediately. It does not deserve to be part of the Lego box.
The only a purchase was made, was by my mother, and I do not regret that. If you people have no forgotten, Mega blocks start people, and from that, they grow to love Lego's.

I can honestly say I've never owned any Mega Blocks, or Tyco Blocks or anything like that. Only Lego. I've played with Mega Blocks as a kid at other kids' houses, but never owned any myself, so never mixed them with my Lego bricks.

I personally don’t have anything against MegaBlocks, and I don’t usually say negative things about their products. But having said that, I only buy Lego for myself.

As a young boy, we had Mega Bloks mixed in with the LEGO, and I didn't really notice the difference until one day while building a wall when I saw that some bricks wern't equal in height. When I tested different ones, the Mega Bloks were all uneven, and that was when I first noticed that these had no "LEGO" logo on the studs.
I have since vowed never to use MBs in a MOC and have thrown out all of them.
