Raid This Set!

Post by The Prince Of Araby »

What are your favorite sets to raid for parts?
They don't have to be good sets either, they just have to have cool bits.

In my younger days I remember buying four or so copies of some technic set just because it came with two clear blue spears that I thought were the coolest things ever.

I also am a big fan of some of the first series Harry Potter sets (the "shop" ones) that just came with oodles of gems and animals.

An honorable mention also includes the Viking Voyager for having a grand total of eight spears and an axe.

This thread is about parts for mocs. Because of this is belongs in the Castle MOCs forum. I will move it there.

My Dark Cavalry is based on multiple copies of set 8777, bought on sale just for Vladek, his horse, the horse barding, and the horse helmet.

I really like the Harry Potter sets as well, because they come chock full of gems, animals, keys, and other great details. Great sets to raid.

I like Draco's Encounter with Buckbeak for parts. It has nice plant parts, a big green plate, the hippogryph, an owl and a book. For such a small set, it's great for parts.

I have not really been collecting sets for a while, then when I came back to buying KK2 was here so I never really get any good sets to raid for pieces.

Well, there are tons of sets to raid for parts, but having just purchased it I would have to say the...

10182 Cafe Corner

is one of the best recent sets to part out. I will probably end up buying another eventually for parts, so I can keep one together.
Look at the inventory of this set though...
2035 parts and 3 minifigs for $140 USD!!!

A great set and a great deal for parts IMO, plus it comes with dark tan hair and green "rotten" cherries.

I agree with most people. Harry Potter sets are great to raid. I got the Original Hogwarts at a garage sale for $5, and I love it. It's missing some pieces, but it is still great.

I was at an official LEGO store and the normally $5 Viking versus fenrir wolf was 50% off! So of course I bought about a half dozen. It has a spear, an axe, european armor, chainmail body, and two red gems along with a bunch of other peices! :D
