White castle?
I'm sure it's been done before, but I'd kinda like to see how it looks. White pieces are cheaper and easier to find. I'm mostly stealing the idea from Conwy castle (one of the few I've visited, and my favorite). It was said when it was built they coated it in white plaster, which would have been quite the display. And since I'm filling my castles with soldiers and not tourists, I think I should be creating these pieces in their time period, not ours.
Anyway, I'd love to see examples before I decide.

Technically, we all should be building castles in white. Castles were originally whitewashed to make them gleam and to protect the stone and mortar from cracking/weakening. Also, not all stone is gray, but we have incorporated the idea that stone is the gray color (mostly from the castle sets) and don't build in the other, truer colors of castles.
I have seen white castles, but I have a new computer and so (that's part of the reason why I'm inactive) all my bookmarks on my favorite MOCs are gone.

Fort Jacinto
Although it's not a Medieval castle, here's a Mexican fort I built for the WW theme. It gives you a smaller idea of a white castle structure.

I like whitewashed castles as well. Check out my shell keep ( viewtopic.php?t=10870 ) and white tower ( viewtopic.php?t=8273 ).

If I remember correctly, Darkie did a very nice cathedral/castle thingy in white. I'll try and find a picture.
Or are you thinking of this?

St. Anthony's Cathedral took nearly all of my white pieces. Like any large scale building, you've got to contend with the "big wall" issue, and find ways to break up big walls of brick. This, I think, can be more difficult when building with white. That said, yes, white brick is usually cheaper, but finding the specialty pieces is a pain in the neck, especially some of the newer bits. I can't even tell you how many bricklink orders I made to get the Cathedral to that place. (It's undergone some extensive renovations, too, so that was another bricklink order....)

Yeah, that's it. Awesome work Darkie. I would have posted it but I thought it would seem a little nosy poking around your flickr and exposing your innards.
And with that post I become a "serf" here. Let's hope it's all I ever dreamed.

This is a very nice MOC. Even though it is a little bit too elaborate for my liking, it is a good example of what can be done with white bricks. Thanks for sharing this Aliencat.Aliencat wrote:Something like this?

Thanks all for sharing. I guess I didn't search hard enough (It's tough, I'm still in the dark ages of dial-up).
Most of these are more elaborate than I imagined, but a lot of good ideas have sprung freom these. I wanted to make a round section using 1x3 bricks and round 1x1s. The top of the towers and all the crennelations I still picture using dark grey bricks for.

White Lion Castle...
...Nice thread
I made my "White Lion Castle" Keep out of white bricks some years ago.
The problem is that they won't stay white...some changed to yellowed white soon.

Wow, I'd forgotten about that one. Thanks for the reminder. Definitely an "oldie but goodie"!

That one Anthony mentioned it pretty good. Although the red may through it off a little if your looking for a totally white castle. I did make a white keep. but it is not very good. This was my first MOC!
