Castle Wall and Tower
This is something I threw together last weekend. It is not that good to me. The big gray walls make it boring. But I think the landscaping can make up for it.

I did the new gray and old gray on purpose to give the rock feeling. I guess I should get rid of it to gave the MOC a more formal taste.

Your right about the Battlements. I just dont have any gray slopes. Any thoughts on the Landscaping?

You could make a pile of bulk bricks and put green plates on top to make a slight hill. That would cover the brown and balck spots and give you some nice variation. You could also swap the light dark gray battlements with the light gray stairslopes, or vice versa, to get a more ordered overall look.

Some of the landscaping looks like you've tried too hard. Alas, I'd post a picture of what I mean (but I don't have a working camera), but it looks like you placed bricks "to be the landscaping." I did this for one creation, and it had a bad effect...
This is all two colors... Green or Yellow.
You have the opposite problem, although when used properly can have an excellent effect. Firstly, the draw-bridge is awesome. Very well done. However, the brown and gray plates/bricks for landscaping seems a bit much. I'd keep the brown, but it should be plates. However, the gray should be 1x1 plates or 1x2/2x2. Large amounts of gray stuck in green looks odd.
The tower part of the wall is very well done. Your improving very much; the landscaping looks a lot like my first example, but you "mottled" it much better. Good job.

This is a pretty nice MOC. I like the battlement design as well as your mottling. I agree, though, that you tried a bit to hard on mottling. I did something similar using all of my spare earth coloured plates for my King's Castle Siege, and it didn't work out as well as I thought. Keep up the good work, though!

It's okay, but I think this could use a lot more work. We've seen better efforts from you in the past. The wall is very plain (as you've stated). The brown parts of the wall are confusing me. At first I thought they were hoardings, but the brown goes right through the tower, so I'm not sure. Also the different colored battlements just don't look right.
The drawbridge seems kind of superfluous, since there is that big gate at ground level. Its too high up the wall and too small.
The landscaping seems unfinished. The brown "path" leads out the gate, but then it ends rather suddenly. I'm not crazy about the mix of bright green with medium green, but that is matter of taste. Is the light gray in the landscaping meant to be rock?
Overall, it shows some potential, but I think you can do better.
Josh
PS. How does the guy get up onto the tower?
