CCCV Trojan Horse

Post by Hob Took »

Being the procrastinator that I am, I waited until 2 hours before the contest ended. It was a rush to do that last little bit of cleanup in photoshop, but here is my entry for the historic event category.

In a last attempt to take the city of Troy, the greeks devised a plan to build a giant wooden horse in honor of the deity Poseidon, god of horses, the sea, and earthquakes. This giant horse would be given up to the people of Troy as a sign of surrender. Most of the greeks sailed away in their ships to decieve the Trojans, while a group of their best soldiers hid inside the horse under the command Odysseus. Once night had fallen and most of the Trojans were asleep or drunk in celebration, the men got out and took the city.

while this is a great model,i'm afraid it might be outside of the time frame allowed since the fall of Troy took place around 1250 BC a few hundred years or so before the timeline permitted for entries.

Very well done. It's a shame, but I have to agree with Asterios, and say that this falls outside of the timeline for the contest. Too bad, really, because this is a quality MOC with a good chance of doing well. That said, you should still be proud of a job well done. The fig choice was excellent, as was the design of the building, as both served to create a very Greek-like atmosphere. The horse is also very well done. Great work, overall!

Arg, I don't believe this! I knew I was forgetting something. The Trojan War lasted ten years, from 1194 to 1184 BC, and that is well before the fall of Rome. Too bad, but thanks anyway for the great comments.
I spent a lot of time on the figs, trying out different helmets and shield designs. I'll take a few close up shots so you can get a better view.

Hey,

If you don't mind, I'll shift this over to "Legends" as the story was told through the middle ages (e.g. Dante meets both Homer and Odysseus in the Inferno).

Very cool! :D I love the minifigures in this- especially the way you used capes as togas! The wooden horse is amazing! So can minifigs fit inside it?

Glad it's still in the contest even though it's not the category you first wanted!
