What's your Lego resolution for the New Year?

Post by RichardAM »

Simple, and i've nicked the original premise of a gaming forum, so double win! :D

This year i'm hoping to finally sort all of my Lego, and get rid of the need to have boxes of unsorted elements. I've basically been doing it since I came out of the dark-ages, and while i've made progress, there's still a lot to do. Obviously the benefit of this is hopefully more time to actually build things. More refined Lego purchases too are another resolution- less buying random sets/bricks etc. and genuinely buying things I need to enhance my collection, so no-more Exo Force purchases.

Anyone else?

Building a SHIP and winning an award with it at Brickworld is basically it.

For Castle, I want to basically build a GOOD castle creation. I know how to, I just down have enough of the right pieces.

Well, my biggest resolution has already been in effect. I've decided not to buy any LEGO till after the wedding, and then I'll have to clear any large purchases with the misses, or at least set up a LEGO budget. That's entirely new to me, so I'll have to work at it.

But she's indulged me several times, and I'm allowed purchases towards the cake toppers!

More building, less sorting. I have been spending so much time sorting and planning storage schemes for my Lego, and not really building much of anything. Well this week I stopped sorting and started building a train layout (sorry, not Castle stuff), and it feels great. Hopefully I don't buy any more large lots of Lego anytime soon, as that would force me to go back to sorting.

This year (Hopefully starting soon), I would like to get my collection in order. A few months ago my brother gave me several boxes of LEGO, which is a complete mess, they need to be both sorted, and cleaned.
Luckily last month I cleaned out my closet (Walk-in), which conviniently has a good large shelf on it where I can store any empty LEGO Castle boxes I have (I save the large ones for some reason.), as well as full boxes of LEGO.

I would also like to do more building.
Last year I really didn't do much, and that I did build were only small creations. I didn't even get around to building something for the CCCV.. :|

-Oh! and one more thing,
This year I really want to stay active in the CCRP, the pst few times I drifted away from it and missed out on alot. Hopefully I can do better with that in '08. :)

Build more.

Last semester in university there was no time... OK, it wasn`t just school. There was building kitchen cabinets, building corrals, various fall `before the snow flies`projects. The snow is here now, so that is over.

This semester I have 4 core nursing classes and want to pick up the last open elective I need (probably by distance). My schedule is sweet with 3 day weekends every week. I hope to build at least one day of those weekends between reading textbooks and on-line articles, as well as writing papers (in APA format). Of course once spring arrives I have a whole lot more demands on my time.

I will build more.

To either buy less Lego or buy a bigger house to keep them in.

Want to do: Sort LEGO, build a crusier and get some more money for my new infantry and build some vehicles and sapceships and a few medieval vigs.

Reality: I will get the money, but not enough for the guns for the infantry. I'll run out of vacation time and school will keep me away from my LEGO bricks 'til summer or Easter break. But I'll get it to happen eventually.

I want to spend more time building with my kids. I'm going to make a conscience effort to include them in my projects. I use building as my escape time, so they tend to get excluded from the Lego. Seems a shame that my kids live in the same house as the biggest Lego collection in town and they don't get to use it much. I'm going to work on changing that. Actually I have been working on that over the last few months, but its a good resolution too.

My LEGO New Years resolution is to actually open some of the sets I buy, instead of selfishly hording them in a closet.

I'm not sure I'll be able to keep this resolution. I'm torn between my two loves: LEGO and Profit.

Finish my next castle!!!

The darn thing has been a work in progress for well over a year now. Constant bricklink orders and a never-ending fear of running out of precious grey have put me at wits end. Building something that is extremely large is also extremely stressful.

I will finish it though!

I resolve to not resolve anything! LEGO is an escape from the kind of world where things like New Year's Resolutions exist for me.
