Any help for a returning lego builder?

Post by wizardnoob28 »

I just came back to Lego with the idea of building a fairly large castle/city, and I was curious as to what sets you guys would recommend. Im looking for sets that have good pieces for castle walls and are also cost effective. Thanks for any help  [/b]

It depends on what kind of walls you want. If you would like to build your castle's walls out of prefab wall pieces, I would recommend sets with a large wall count. However, if you feel the urge to build the walls out of brick, Bricklink is your best bet by far.

If your lucky enough to live by an Lego retail store, the pick your pieces bins would be a great option for lots of bricks. They don't always have a great selection of the same color pieces but you would be able to obtain alot without the high shipping costs bricks have from Bricklink.

Be aware to be most cost effective you'd have to press the bricks togethers to compact it.

For archs, slopes, inverted slopes, ect you'll probably want to use Bricklink.

The current large castle 7094 (link at bottom) provides an excellent selection of light bley pieces for castle building.

I'll second this notion. Be sure to compare prices between the different stores and be patient as some items will become available if they look too expensive intially.

BL can be a good resource but you should figure out how much TLC charges as well. Some stuff I find is cheaper, at times much cheaper than BL. Mostly objects like armour or helmets etc but it pays look before buying.

As Tower said BL is about patience and alot of looking. Some stores might have excellent prices on a few items while with other items not so good. Takes some time to find out what works out best for you.
