TRU Sale Going on NOW! US: September 21 to 27

Post by Peppermint Pig »

UPDATE: Toys R Us Sale is going on NOW, from the 21st to the 27th for the US.

Excludes Indiana Jones, Star Wars, SpongeBob & Bulk

Which means it includes Agents, Aqua Raiders, Belleville, Bionicle, Castle, City, Creator, Exo-Force, Racers, Speed Racer (and that's all I can think of). I don't know if it applies to the anniversary set (the other one besides town plan).

-----

Based on previous years, Toys R Us typically holds one of their big week-long sales around the last week of September, starting on Sunday.

This means the next sale could begin on the 21st, or later on the 28th.

Is there anybody out there who could verify the date?

At least 1 or 2 days advance notice would be appreciated.

Hmmm, I would like to know this too. I want to go up to the nearest TRU, and having a sale there would be awsome.

Looks like Canada has already started their sale since the 6th of this September and ends tomorrow on the 19th. Sale is the buy 2 and 3rd one free, but only for Castle, Mars Mission, and Speed Racer themed sets.
Lucky Canadians.:)
Hopefully this means a USA sale might be coming up this week. Crossing fingers.:)

Thanks for the information. Doesn't look like Canadians are so lucky when one looks at the amount they have to pay for LEGO.

Hopefully the US gets something similar though I wouldn't mind a 50% sale. :D

Sorry to hear that Elephant Knight...

At least people in Canada GET sales from time to time, considering the prices.

Haven't seen any news/info about a sale yet.

Trying to pool a large amount of cash for this one.

Until we see the ad, it's probably safe to assume the selection will be limited like in Canada to Castle, Speed Racer, Mars Mission. That would be a shame, since theres some great Batman, Rescue, and Indiana Jones sets out there.

TRU might no longer be stocking the Dwarves Mine at the earlier, lower retail price (will be 10 dollars more if so).

Woohoo! This is excellent news!

I actually have a decent amount of cash together, so this is perfect. I'll have me an excellent chance to stock up on some more Castle sets (I think I'll finally get a copy (Or three) of the tower raid set).

Thanks for posting.

We came, we saw, we conquered!

We got there a good 15 minutes before the store opened. We were first in what was a fairly small line in front of the store. The people behind us were there to grab a Wii Fit so they were no competition for us.

The moment we got into the store, Goblin and I each had a shopping cart and we were coasting quickly towards the Lego aisle. :) We prepared lists beforehand and knew exactly what to get. Sets quickly found their way into our carts as we moved through the selection. Took us well under a minute to get the brunt of what we were after, including cleaning out their stock of 3 Dwarves Mines (which are at the higher retail price now, FYI!!).

Most of the time was spent grabbing items to replace those we couldn't find, adding small sets to hit our budget, and verifying what we had gathered. As we wheeled toward the checkout, we actually found a 8117 Storm Lasher laying on the ground that we didn't see earlier. Was good fortune since we had it on the list.

That Storm Lasher replaced another set, so I went to put it back. When I did I saw an older woman in the Lego aisle shopping from a list for her grandson, and I helped her identify sets. With my good Samaritan deed for the day taken care of, it was time to check out!!

No direct competition, and we achieved a high degree of success. All prices were about the same as TRU's online listing, except for the Dwarves Mine Defender which was a dollar more in-store. Small sets, of course are higher than Lego's online pricing, but it's still typically worth getting some when the sale is on. :)

LibertyLUG members, you'll be pleased to know plenty of Castle was acquired, including two 7048 Troll Warship sets.

But first I'm going have to raid through the score and keep a few things for myself.

Don't worry, there will be plenty of good parts left over for sale on the bricklink market. :)

I actually, for some reason, thought the sale would be based upon the most expensive item and not the cheapest. I did a few calculations and found that the total cost would equate to about what I would pay if I ordered from Amazon during their 20% off sale. If I purchased three identical Castle Siege sets, then I would save around $20 total and would have to invest time to sell the extra two Castle sets (along with depleting my LEGO budget). Toys R Us seems to charge way too much for most small sets so that would be out of the question. However, I'm glad to see a few people found the sale to be worth it. Definitely a nice stash. :D

I got 2 7091 Knights' Defense Catapult and 1 7009 Final Joust. All sets were 11.99$ which is 2$ higher on 7091 and 4$!!! higher on 7009. Since I couldn't find any of these sets anywhere else, I decided to get them. I probably would have spent the same amount at Amazon. I may go back and get some 20$-30$ sets.

Woah. I am certainitly glad I do not live near you. I would NEVER be able to buy any Lego at TRU if I did. at least not any interesting sets.
