Brick-built lego swords

Post by Bandaid »

Uh, hello.

Pictures first?
(sorry in advance if they're too big, or formatted wrong, or something)

These are brick built(well, more like plate built) swords that I started on from when I was younger, when I didn't have the means to buy custom swords, or even actual lego swords, so I made acouple of these and went on from there.

The handle are all handled with a lightsaber(?) hilt attached to a 1x1 plate clip thingie(?), clipped onto a 1x2 plate with handle, as seen in this picture.

edit: sorry for not posting images, I don't get how to do it.

Commentary and criticisms are appreciated, and moderators, feel free to move this thread if in the wrong section, thank you.

Good designs, I think they're pretty good. But I'm just not a big fan of brick built swords, and the like. :(

For me I don't "see" the blade part as being thin enough. It just looks like a band instrument case for a trumpet or trombone. With all the other weapons including swords that LEGO had from day one with the castle figures I never saw the need. But that goes to show us that with LEGO anything's possible.

Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely!

Despise learning and make everyone pay for your ignorance.

The water that floats a ship is the same that sinks it.

My LEGO figures keep me from being evil, drat!!

Thanks for the compliments. Well, not being a fan of them(brick-built swords) and whatnot is a preference, but I'm glad you liked my designs anyway. :)

Well, in this case, this particular model was meant to be more for a character whose was a view of death opposite from what's common now, which is death is quick, speedy and terrifying, while this one is death, slow and lumbering(?), who you could run away from, but would get you in the end, if that makes sense to you.

So this character uses the sword(well, more like a blunt weapon, really) for smashing and crushing, with the use of magic for those finer details, bursts of speed, paralyzing targets and yeah.

Actually, that comment that it looks like a band instrument is actually pretty interesting, since one; I made his sword with the image of a tombstone, like he just ripped one out of the ground and has been walking around with it, and two; that makes me want to try to make a weapon hidden in a instrument, like a trumpet of assassination +2 to sneakiness. :D

But yeah, the blade is pretty thick compared to actual lego swords and custom swords, but most of the time, I use a single tile, 1x4, usually, and I change it up depending on whatever circumstance that the character is in, like, longer tile/blade for horsemen, or a shorter tile/blade for close quarter combat.

But yeah, thanks for the views.

... After some thought, I came to the conclusion that I should have posted a basic design to these things before I posted any variations to the design, so, here they are.

Like before, commentary and criticisms are very much appreciated.
Thank you for your time. :)

But yeah, thanks for the compliments

I'll try, but I think it might either not work for me, or I'm doing something wrong.
EDIT: Tried posting as image, doesn't seem to work for me, deep links instead?

And this is the tombstone weapon I was talking about before;
