Royal and Ceremonial Capes

I've been working on some new cape designs and thought I'd show off the final prototypes to you all.

1st up we have the "Royal Cape":

Before anyone jumps down my throat, I would like to point out and make it perfectly clear, that I have been speaking with Lamanda about these. I have expressed my interest in making them and also my concern for stealing her concept. She will be given full credit for the concept on my site.

Up next is the "Ceremonial Cape":

This design is based off the capes/cloaks that the kings of your wore at their corrination ceremonies.

As always, comments/suggestions welcomed.

Ah, these are some nice designs. The cerimonial cape, in my opinion has maybe a little too much "bulk" from the minifig, but I love the Royal cape.

BTW an interesting choice of your most recent two colours

I like them both. The Ceremonial cape would be perfect on some MOCs.

Very nice. I like the back of the neck which lacks the bind that TLC capes have. The ceremonial capes will be very nice in different colors. Try one 3 times as long in white for a train for a wedding gown.

It took me a while here to figure out what was different about the "Royal Cape," but, on reflection, I suppose that's because it actually looks more appropriate for a fig than the standard cape.

One of these days, I'll probably have to start trolling Bricklink for custom capes, because these (yours and Lamanda's elsewhere) are too cool.

Hey Mark,

I'm so glad you posted these here. Every time I've tried to open your message you emailed with me, it's just frozen up on me for some reason (I'm guessing the amount of pictures or something of that nature).

Both designs look excellent in my opinion!
I can see that Royal Cape being fitted on some of the finest minifig Kings (And knights, for added coolness of course

), as well as the Ceremonial design, which just screams "Royalty".

Always great to see what new items you come up with!

Okay, I've cracked, I admit it. I held up for a couple days, but I give in. Pardon me if I sound a tad uncouth, but just what is different about the Royal Cape? Not saying it looks bad or anything, but I just cannot for the life of me figure out what is different about it.

Dan: If you compare the above pictures of the Royal Cape to the below pictures of a Standard Cape it may help to recognise the differences.

Differences:
* Overall shape. The Royal cape is a little more snug around the shoulders.
* No "beak" on the back of the figure. A standard cape has a very pronounced "beak" (for want of a better word) at the back of the minifig. I've done away with that on the Royal Cape. See how it sits in closer to the base of the crown.
* The Royal Cape is also longer. It actually touches the ground and is not as rounded on the bottom. Whereas the standard cape doesn't quite make it to the ground.
