CCCVI - Tapestry

Post by Bluesecrets »

My tapestry entry for CCCVI is as follows:

or if prefer Flickr here is the link to that:

You will notice this is my Classic-Castle avatar. I realized it was a risk to build a tapestry for a castle contest containing LEGO minifigs, but I thought it was also very unique and different. What better way to have a LEGO tapestry than to have LEGO people in it?

I have been patiently working on this since the day the contest was announced. I used all old colors. The "ropes" had the end caps removed because they are from old 80's space sets that has the ability to have them removed.

Enjoy.

Call me super impressed!! I think this looks perfect. The little ropes at the top and bottom give it the final edge it needs. I got to see this at the beginning stages and you pulled it off perfectly. Your sig fig is very recognizable, and so is the Black Falcon fig behind you. It looks exactly as a Tapestry should. Awesome job.

As the other two said, great job. It looks wonderful, and very tapestryesc. LIke QB said the ropes on the ends does give it that much more of a 3-D look. I can almost imagine it hanging on my wall. Great job again Blue.

I want to know why you can almost picture Blue's avatar hanging on your wall... Is all of CC up there like all the kids and grandkids on a family wall? :P

Although I can't see it on MY wall ( :P ), this is indeed a very tapestric tapestry. The patterning on the background, especially, strikes me as "woven".

Now this is a tapestry!
I really like the background and the ropes which are precisely what makes this a real tapestry and more than just a mosaic.
The consistency in colour (only old colours) is also great and gives it a clean look. It's clear you've put lots of work into this and it really paid off. The figures it depicts are very recognisable from seeing your avatar around the forum, and then the pattern in the background adds that bit of tapestry-ness that it needs.
Excellent job :)

This was so funny it made me laugh for the longest time.
I can almost imagine it hanging on my wall.
Now that would be quite an honor to have a creation hanging on the walls of the infamous Robinhood.
