How do you use the classic dragons vs the new Dragons

I don't, to both questions.

I prefer the new dragons because of the scale, and the Viking beasties before them, but lots of people seem to prefer using the original DM ones.

Good questions all.

i use them as magically inclined villians, following the original fluff text from the old catalogs.

The new dragons, i find the green one works VERY well with a dragon knight. The old dragons i use to pull chariots and such. sadly they tend to break so my 'fleet' is depleted. <the wing clips break...

p.s. i can't get enough of the green dragon shields! be sweet to have in red.

I use the 3 new Dragons as my main ones. They actually speak and have been around since the beginning of time. Red one and the Black one are evil and hate the human race. Green sees hope in humanity.

The old school dragons, are basically "summoned" creatures by the Dragon Masters. The DM are basically feared and shunned upon for they're beliefs, as most of the world think Dragons are a fairy tale.

Use them all. Big ones, little ones, etc. The smaller DM ones tend to be somewhat domesticated... more or less.

The Dragon Masters are my primary 'Good' faction.

I see the classic dragons as slightly more intelligent than dolphins, and when treated right, they make the greatest and most loyal steeds, but when treated wrong, just run like heck. ;)

The new dragons have no place in my universe, as I don't have any, nor do I like them.

Typically in most books of fantasy and myth colored dragons are evil and metallic dragons are good. I would have loved for the Knights dragon to be Bronze. I guess it really doesn't matter though since a dragon can be whatever one wants it to be.

If you are taking the dragon lance/ D&D tack, then yes colored is evil and metalic is good.

But there are as many dragon mythos structures as there are dragons. In LOTR for example they're all bad, and i think metalic if memory serves. <iron scales>

In WarCraft, Black Dragons are evil while Red, Blue, Green, and Bronze tend to be good. Though the Blue Dragonflight has declared war on all mortal arcane users.

This is how I use my old dragons. See photos below. These lizardmen may be my favorite custom faction that I have created. And my most expensive too! I think without the wings the old dragons make great reptilian mounts!

I think the current dragons are the best. I use them based by color. Red/Black for the bad guys. Green for the good guys. I also have some custom dragons and the horntail in my collection. The Brown, Dark Green, and Yellow Dragons for the good guys as well. I have alot of the black and red dragons and need these numbers to offset them. If you don't recognize the pieces they are dinosaurs I altered to represent dragons and I think they have come out very well.

I don't use the viking dragons at all as they look too mechanical.

I will only post thumbs to a few items. The rest you will have to wait for approval. There are just too many photos...

Oh... and I have broken one wing in the past. I suppose they are a little fragile. One of the few pieces I have ever broken.

The dragon masters in my kingdom are friends of the High King. In the land to the notheast the dragon population had gone wild and the Wizard Council established the dragon masters. Their primary purpose is to manage the amount of dragons in the northern lands. There were 12 dragon masters including the lords of the Bull lands and Bat lands. Each master commands a small fighting force that is loyal to one master. The masters are magicaly bound to 5 laws. To break any law means expulsion from group. There are only 8 masters remaining. The bat lord left becuse he wanted thought that they should kill all the dragons. the bull lord was forced to leave because he broke a rule in trying to protect 2 other masters that were killed in a battle.

One of the laws was to protect and people so long an they lived in the dragon area. In a year of famine one of the villages decided to leave. The dragon masters were charged to escort them to the border. While on the way they were ambushed by raiders and tow masters and their armies held the bandits back while the bull lord lead the people away. He thought that they were passed the border and turned back to help the other two and got to the battle in time to save the troops but the other masters were killed. The villagers were not across the border and attacked again and most were killed. The bull lord was forced to leave because he had neglected the villagers. He left willingly because of his honor. The troop that he had save swore loyalty to him and he set off to rule his lands (but that is another story)

There are 8 remaining and in a comming battle there services will be called on by the High King for the greatest battle ever seen in the land that will determine the outcome of the kingdom.

I use both the old and the new. I use the new as mounted war dragons and I use the old as messenger dragons. I have the green and red new ones for the crown knights (I used the red and green wings from the Viking fortress set on the reds and gave them pointed tails.) Of course the blacks stay with the skeletons (and my dragons knights and almost all knights that are predominantly black in color). The trolls and dwarves don't trust dragons so they stay away from them. The old green dragons are used as messengers between the different kingdoms ad the old blacks are used by the necromancer as his minions. The only dragon I have that doesn't have an assigned role is the Hungarian Horntail (which I really like). It is a wild dragon (though more of a wevren as it has no forearms) that terrorizes the various countrysides, after all, you need to have a dragon for the errant knight to slay and the king gets a little miffed if you wack his.
